NOTE: Updates for this mod are currently on hold while I finish my university work... but once I've done everything I have to do, I will release one heck of an update!

This Buddy allows you to unlock the full potential of certain characters, making them stronger in a way only they can get. It has different effects for each compatibility, but it most often allows you to use their installs or transformations without any cost.

You'll see a padlock appear and unlock at the start of the match if your character is compatible. Otherwise, it'll just shake and make an error sound. This isn't meant to be balanced, simply a funny thing to mess around with.

  • Goku, Vegeta, Sora and Neptune have maxed out meters.
  • Galacta Knight, Gallantmon and the Kewtians have maxed out STRONG attacks.

CUSTOM COMPATIBILITY

Add these variables to your 'init' function:
  • 'unlock_potential': If this variable exists and is true, 'potential_unlocked' will be added to your character.
  • 'unlock_potential_intro_delay': The delay, in frames, between the start of the match and the padlock animation. This is for characters who have intro animations. (Default: 0)

Read these variables after a 'variable_instance_exists' function:
  • 'potential_unlocked': Only exists on your character if you have has this buddy equipped.





Can you add [insert character]?
I'm not going to add everyone. This mod is specifically for characters who CAN be stronger if their kit is tweaked in simple yet powerful ways. For instance, I can't really buff Orcane as he doesn't have any gimmicks I can buff: he doesn't need any complex setups, meters or installs to play at his maximum potential.

If you have a request, PLEASE tell me what the effect should be.

If you do this character can you make it so you dont have to charge any of his attacks please and thank you

could this work for Mr. Red? he has a SHOCK meter that stops time, but it only works if you use it in close range to an enemy

To use this Buddy, you first have to equip it from the (+) menu on the bottom right of your character in the select screen. It looks like a padlock.

From there, you just have to be playing as a compatible character. You can find all of them here: https://steamproxy.net/workshop/filedetails/?id=3204486800

If it’s set up right, you’ll see the padlock unlock at the start of the match!

By the way, some characters have an extra effect if you hold down TAUNT at the start of the match! You’ll know if their padlock turns rainbow.

It's not 'dead', but it is on hiatus for the next month or so. I've got a lot going on that I need to focus on, so my Rivals modding is currently on hold.

I want to keep supporting this mod however, so when the time is right, I'll be reading through all these comments and adding support for all kinds of characters... but that won't be happening for quite a while.
