spawn a freighter while you're on the ground, jump from the edge of a frigate, build an exocraft terminal in low orbit, build a base computer on top of it, and you got yourself an orbital base in the making
you do have to enable free placement for the exocraft terminal, otherwise its easy so long as you have some batteries to survive in empty space long enough to reach orbit

as soon as i get out of the acid ocean i can work on something like it

It looks higher than it is. I built the structure on a rocky plateau, so I had a certain height right from the start. The angle of the picture makes it look even higher. The supporting structure of the tower consists of cylinders that I stacked on top of each other. This way I reached the final height quite easily. If you want to build something similar yourself, I recommend a visit there to see everything in detail.
