Nippon Sharyo Type 8500 Gallery Cars

Description
Modernize your commuter trains with these Nippon Sharyo gallery cars!

In the 1990s, Metra, the commuter rail operator for Chicago was in need of new equipment to supplement an aging fleet of Budd and Pullman coaches. The answer was a new run of gallery cars, with bigger windows and a modernized cab car. These were first delivered in 2002 and quickly became the mainstay coaches and cabs of the system. Virginia Railway Express followed suit with an order in the early 2000s, receiving cars in 2006.

Liveries included are:
Metra (2002)
VRE (2006)
Generic / Recolorable (2002)

**CalTrain was not included as they do not own these cars- the 8400 series that they use will be released at a later date.

Specifications:
Top Speed: 79 MPH
Capacity: 35 (Cab) 36 (Coach)
Weight: 57t

Thanks again to MrCheesecake for making an excellent soundset, featuring the signature door closing sound used on Metra!

@SuperJesse64 This means that the locomotive you're trying to use isn't enabled to operate in reverse. This would have to be changed in the MDL file of that locomotive.

The cab car doesn't seem to make trains go backward. Will that change in an update?

@Cule729 I don't have that currently planned. However, my commissions are open. If you would like to commission a model, please contact me.

Thanks
I hope you can make Surfliner one day :)

@thsworld These cars don't have full second floors, so upper seating capacity is very limited. The capacity is calibrated to vanilla vehicles of similar form.

Just Capacity: 35 (Cab) 36 (Coach) - even if they have 2 floors?

@hoosyourdaddyo The seating layout is the one provided in the blueprints I was able to get from Metra. I don't have any blueprints of the VRE seating arrangement, nor am I paid enough to make a different interior layout for the VRE cars...

Hey, as a VRE rider, and occupant of these cars, you have have the seating layout wrong. The only place they have the "parachute style" seats are by the doorway. The upstairs have a single row of single seats all the way back.

Look great though!
