Galki

Description
From the depths of a mysterious cave hidden and forgotten in the Aetherian Forest, Galki emerges to mess with the competition.

OVERVIEW

Galki is very slow, their jump leaves much to be desired, and despite their size, this is a lightweight character, but what makes it not unplayable is the access it has to a bunch of disjointed hitboxes, combos, and special moves that help a lot with mobility, stage control, defense and offense. They make it (especially dspecial and uspecial) so you can be versatile and always approach the same situation in many ways. I think having to play around these weaknesses and finding ways to adapt is fun and kinda makes you feel smart. I´m not that great at pixelart, but I emphasized having each move be a different concept that only a character with this design can do. I hope you enjoy it!

LORE

Wearing a log to protect their body and a leaf for the style, this elusive creature has been spotted with more frecuency lately, but no one knows what their deal is. They have 8 vines that come out of their bush-like torso that function as arms and legs and can be stretched and intertwined in different ways depending on what's needed. Rumors always contradict themselves, having some people fearing this being beacuse of what little is known of the cave and the strange powers and shapes this character can show, while some other people hope to see and maybe befriend this stranger. The truth is, Galki is just exploring this world that is new to them, discovering what is dangerous and what is not, using their abilities to get food or get out of trouble with the creatures of the forest before going back to the cave to who knows what. No one has managed to effectively communicate with this lifeform to date that we know, but those who have met them call them a one bug swarm, the vile vine bandit, but the name that stuck the most is Galki, based on an old name for the cave where this creature came from.

SPECIAL MOVES
  • Dspecial: Spider Web. Creates a web that stays in place and can interact with various moves, as well as wrapping anyone who is send flying towards it in vines for a short period of time. The grounded version can be held down to spawn the web higher. Doing the dspecial input while a web is already on play will result in a different move that attracts the web towards the player.

  • Nspecial: Vine Ray. Shoots a fast projectile that deals a small amount of damage. When this projectile hits the web it comes back as a stronger version that can wrap enemies on hit.

  • Fspecial: Grass Hop. Galki charges and leaps forward to hit opponents and move around. It can be angled upwards or downwards. If you make contact with your web while jumping, you'll jump again in the opposite direction, travelling further, being able to wrap opponents and avoiding the pratfall state even if you don't hit anything.

  • Uspecial: Arm Swing. This moves has Galki choose a direction and extend their arm towwards it. If it hits something on the way it will function as a grapple hook sending you towards it. It will only make opponents already in hitstun flinch. It is possible to hold the shield button while the arm is extending to make it ignore jump-through platforms.

OTHER MOVES
  • Dstrong: Timber. Galki Jumps with spring-like legs and falls hitting anyone on the way to finish them off attacking with branches appearing from the ground. This move can be used in the air, and if it hits the web while falling, Galki will bounce high destroying the web in the process. It's possible to go even higher using Nair: Spider Glide while rising.

  • Dair: Wooden Board. This move makes you bounce on opponents when you hit them. If performed close to the ground Galki will slide with a lingering hitbox. This last part is jump-cancellable.

  • Ftilt: Grass Sword and Fair: Green Axe can also be used to destroy the spider web.

UPDATES

The First One.
Now Galki jumps a bit higher, has a better airdodge, and some moves have been buffed (I don't remember all the changes). Thre have also been some small visual changes. That's all for now, thanks for the comments, everyone!

The Second One.
Increased the damage output of most moves a little and added support for a few workshop items. Also Galki now has acces to runes that can buff them slightly or turn them very OP.
