GM-315 Combat Utility Ship

Mid-Battle logistics is a difficult task without a specialised craft. An unarmed craft can easily be shot down, and a heavily armed ship would be too heavy and expensive for a logistics role. The GM-315 seeks to balance armament and logistics effectiveness.

The ship is armed with two rocket launchers and two missile turrets to fight off any larger ships and bombers that may try and take it out, and allows it to hold its own out in an open conflict. Combat however is not the main role of this ship. It is supposed to support repair craft and rearm ships close and within a battlefield, so craft do not need to leave a battle to rearm.

This uses new camera and remote piloting technology to allow it to be remotely controlled from any nearby ships in the area. Two airlocks are equipped with decontamination fields to prevent any harmful elements entering the ship when pilots enter and leave in a potentially dangerous environment. The entire communications and detection package is situated inside the craft for protection. Two refineries allow it to refine ore from any nearby mining outposts or ships that may be in the area, allowing it to have an almost unlimited amount of resources without needing to include its own mining equipment. Two assemblers are available for rapid production of ammo and repair components.

This ship ended up looking a lot like FTLs Kestrel ship. So, it is nicknamed "Kestrel", however this isn't an official designation.
