I thing this is useful to be posted also at the guides section, since it is not stated in-game etc:

Some times the save files can be corrupted and not displayed at the Load Game option, if for example there is a power failure during the save game process. (That is what happened to me after 100+ hours in game.)

A fix the devs created worked for me.
The devs notification is labeled << The Bard's Tale IV: Save Game Corruption Resolution >> and it is at the official inXile web-page articles : inXile Entertainment >The Bard's Tale IV > Technical Help ( I am not pasting the link as per steam chat rules).

The devs instructions are:
<< Navigate to the Main Menu , Press CTL + ALT + SHFT + F1 , Select ‘yes’ at the prompt , reattempt to load the Save >>
I had to restart the game, and my saves were now accessible.

An alternative is to backup your saves files from time to time.
Save location on my system is:
<< C:\Users\YourPCUserName\AppData\Local\BardsTale4DC >>
