Sheriff Charlie

Description
In the quaint town of Cloudy Plateau, an aging settlement not too far from Julesvale, there lived the most feared lawman in all of Aether– a brave Sheriff who could do away with a band of 10 bandits in under 5 minutes and put them all behind bars. He was thought to be untouchable— that was, until one fateful day, a loathsome bandit managed to get the drop on the Sheriff and successfully ended him, leaving him to history.

In the town’s mourning they entrusted this important position to his promising son, Sheriff Charlie, hoping that he may continue the legacy and save them from the dangers of the world. Unfortunately for them, this young worm is more interested in fighting the town’s rogues' gallery. While a capable fighter in his own right, his hot-headed attitude leads him to pick fights with people too great to handle, leading to many dangerous men escaping and many important properties being destroyed. After failing to capture or drive away most of the lowlives that frequent their town, the townspeople begin to lose faith in the new Sheriff, believing that he is not taking his role with the proper respect it should be, and even regretting ever putting all their hope in the hot-headed buck.

With the townspeople losing faith and the bandits frequently underestimating him, Charlie determines that staying in this town will never let him prove that he can live up to his father’s legend. He ultimately decides with a heavy heart to leave the town he grew up in, armed with a pistol and the power to control the very ground beneath him, and sets off seeking the most dangerous criminals in all of Aether to win back his town’s people’s faith and prove himself worthy to bear the tag of Sheriff.

A lawman with a lot to prove

Sheriff Charlie, The Long-Shot Law

Elemental Powers

Bouncing Bullet: Using Charlie’s neutral special he can fire a dirt bullet, aiming it at any surface allows it to ricochet off it, extending its duration. Any surface will do, including any part of a platform. Be careful as he has ammunition and can run out. If you ever find yourself running out of bullets you can press attack and special or land back air to reload your gun.

Raging Devil: Using side special allows you to charge up a dust devil from his tail. Each charge stage summons a different projectile such as a bouncing dust devil, a upwards traveling dust devil, and one large dust devil that does residual damage to those standing inside. You can press the shield button to resume charging later or keep a stage on hand. You can ricochet a bouncing bullet off of these.

Sudden Restraint: Using Forward strong, Up Strong, Down Strong, and Down Special's Shotgun Blast inflicts the dusted effect on the opponent. While they are weak on their own if the opponent tries using a strong attack while dusted they will be suddenly detained by hand cuffs made of dust. Be careful as using a strong attack will waste 3 bullets from your chamber.

Charlie is a light weight zoner whose aim is to create opportunities to get in on the opponent with the help of his bouncing bullet and variable side special that can create more surfaces for your bullet to ricochet off of if you find yourself without platforms to work with. While his range is above average for his weight class his kill power is left to be desired but can instead be used to lock opponents out of their finishing moves prolonging your current stock now that the opponent has less finishers to work with.

If you ever find yourself in a pinch you can use down special to burrow into the ground, even burying opponents as you dive in, and quickly escape and rethink your strategy or hold the special button to use a powerful finisher move. Be careful to use the move too often as each subsequent use will go less distance and if not careful you can lock yourself out of the move for a while as Charlie begins to hit rocks and stun himself trying to dig. His up special is a similar story as he drills into the stage and rides up the wall until he reaches the ledge. While digging you can jump out of the move to mix the opponent and while emerging you can hold the special button to do an attack out of it. If you so wish if you hit people while Charlie drills the end of the move can spike, be wise with your usage.

Notiable moves:

Double Jump: Charlie uses his gun to propell himself upwards, of course because he fires the gun naturally the blast can actually damage opponents. The hitbox however is very small and doesn't do that much damage but you can use the move to combo into dair if you manage to land it.

F Tilt: While his finishers are very weak his f tilt is his strongest finisher out of all of them. However the move is very slow and needs you to hit with the very tip of his head in order to get the full strength of the move

Bair: Hitting the move allows you to reload your bullets with each hit. This is Charlie’s only method of reloading in the air.

D Tilt: Due to Charlie springing forward the move goes over most low attacks in the game. Use this as you will
