[ICS] - Ajax Mk2 - Scout Corvette

[ICS] Presents its refit of the proud Ajax - Scout Corvette.



The Ajax class served Scorch Industries well during its service, with atleast 1 up to 10 accompanying every task force and fleet due to it being cheap to both make and operate.
During its history it experienced conflict with the [REDACTED] and the class performed valiantly, being able to intercept and sometimes even overtake the enemies' impressive main drives.

However, as with typical Scorch Industries fashion it had several drawbacks and design flaws, the first of which was how the designers had positioned the the main hydrogen tank. This was an issue as when production of the class was hastened during the war with [REDACTED], the metal used to manufacture the tanks was not refined to appropriate standards and thus caused several vessels to tear themselves apart when the turrets fired. Another issue with the positioning was that the tank was easy to snipe, even at high speeds and as such had to be reconsidered heavily during the start of the refit program. This caused a reconfiguration of the entire rear segment of the hull, allowing for the tank to be more protected and providing a sleeker hull profile. The change in design also benefitted the need for more appropriate class weaponry and docking capabilities as it was easier to install port and starboard connectors as well as angled autocannon PDCs (point defense cannons) in place of the artillery turrets that was on the sides. This would allow the Mk2 to eliminate smaller, more agile targets with relative ease.

I decided to refit the Ajax due to several reasons. The most important one of them being I hated the previous look due to how the artillery turrets were precariously placed on the hydrogen tank, and the turrets themselves feeling somewhat out of place for the type of vessel I wanted. The least important reason was that I also wanted it in my current factions style/ colour.

Also you can pilot the ship via a cockpit tucked away underneath, positioned behind an exposed gyroscope.
