Spartan Unit Variety

Description
This unit pack intends to add more variety to Sparta's troop roster through 'What-If' scenarios. Sparta was a small military force that fell in part because of traditions, military rigidity and a lack of innovation. The hoplite formations were great for their time, but were quickly undone by flanking manoeuvres and a more agile opposition.

If Sparta can dominate the known world in this game, they should also be able to come up with some new troop tactics to achieve it. As such, I've created the following units to bolster the roster:

- Elite Spartan Hoplites
- Expeditionary Hoplites
- Royal Spartan Pikemen
- Spartan Marines
- Spartan Siege Specialists
- Spartan Shieldmaidens
- Spartan Paidiskoi
- Spartan Skirmishers
- Spartan Noble Cavalry
- Spartan War Elephants
- Bactrian Horse Archers
- Chosen Illyrian Raiders
- Elite Arcadian Archers

Each of these are an evolution of existing troops or an adoption from foreign armies. This is probably unbalanced, but I find it good fun as both the user and opposition; Sparta will become a serious threat on the battlefield.

I have used the helmet and shield asset from the excellent Lord Buio's 300 Rearmed Version; if the original creator of these assets is not content for me to use the assets, I will replace them with vanilla pieces.

Please let me know if you run into any issues.

I like the elite hoplites. Combining real hoplite armor with the 300 helmets and shields. Makes for a really good look.

@HecticWolf97 - I don't believe so, but certainly something I can look into!

is this compatible with the WoS campaign by any chance?

Great mod either way. Thanks!

@TheJakernaut - Unlikely, this was made for vanilla playthroughs and uses those buildings / research levels etc. I don't use DEI, so unsure how this would even port across

I’m assuming this doesn’t work with DEI?
