Dynamic Regency

Description
Updated for 1.12.*.*

Find Regencies to be disconnected from the rest of the game?
Feel like more factors should play a role in determining the power of a regent?

This mod dynamically changes the power of a regent based on both parties' military strength, title rank, relations, claims, etc.
providing more ways to tip the balance of power to both regents and lieges.

🔗 Connecting Regency to Other Mechanics
By making the struggle between liege and regent depend on more than just a few buttons, you now have more options to take power away from your regent/liege.

It's now possible to advance your position in a diarchy by:

-Improving your/your liege's vassals' opinions of you
-Gaining a higher tier title
-Making new alliances
-Increasing prestige/piety levels
-Changing crown authority
-Ending or Starting friendships/romantic relationships/marriages
-Dismissing the regent from the council / Getting a council position as a regent
-Getting yourself out of prison
-Manipulating the line of succession of your/your liege's primary title
-Increasing military strength
-Hiring mercenaries
-etc.

However, keep in mind that these tricks also work for your regent.

⚖️ Initial Swing & Balance Swing
A Regency/Vizierate's Scale of Power no longer starts from 0. Now, the "Initial Swing" will be added to the Scale of Power at the beginning of a regency.

As time passes, the relative power of regent and liege will undoubtedly change. To reflect this, the once static "Balance Swing" now adjusts in real time.

Both "Initial Swing" and "Balance Swing" can be influenced by various other mechanics like those mentioned in the first section.

🐎 Swing Momentum
Instead of approaching the "Balance Swing" at a constant rate like in vanilla, the monthly swing change is affected by the distance to "Balance Swing" and "Swing Momentum".

The farther away the current swing is from the "Balance Swing", the faster the monthly swing approaches this balance point.

"Swing Momentum", which also modifies the monthly swing, is derived from changes in the two parties' relative power since the start of the regency.

So, it could be handy to have some cards up your sleeve (e.g., gold for mercenaries, decision to create a higher-tier title, option to increase crown authority), so that you can accelerate/hinder the monthly swing change in case you find yourself in a pickle during a regency.

🌄 Residual Swing
It doesn't make much sense that the slate is wiped clean the moment their liege's direct rule is resumed.

Regents can now cling to their power beyond the end of their appointment in the form of "Residual Swing". Even though this remnant of authority fades over time, it makes those regents who serve consecutively much more dangerous.

Characters with high learning will also be able to gain extensive experience as regents, which permanently increases their "Balance Swing".

🤝 Popularity among Peers
For those who also use SRE, levels in the "Popularity Among Peers" trait track could further boost your "Balance Swing".

XP for the "Popularity Among Peers" track can be gained by becoming friends/lovers with your fellow vassals or your liege's peers (Vassals under the same top liege).

✨ Different Features for Different Types of Diarchies
The system applies to all three types of diarchy in vanilla (Regency, Entrenched Regency, and Vizierate).

In Entrenched Regency and Vizierate, it is harder for the diarch to accrue power due to the nature of the power-sharing arrangement.

For Viziers, the competence of their liege's civil service led by them (average aptitude of tax collectors) also contributes towards their power as regent.

A player could choose to appoint talented tax collectors to gain bonuses from the vizier faster and replace some of them with less competent ones to prevent the vizier's power from getting out of hand.

This mod is best used with Social Relations Expanded.
It adds over 60 opinion modifiers related to character relations and interactions to make AI characters feel more real.

New Social Relations Expanded add-on: Rescue & Vengeance
(Requires Rescue & Vengeance Add-on)
Adding new ways of resolving the imprisonment, forced concubinage or death of those close to you through war.

⚠️ Before You Start ⚠️

1. This mod Requires a new game! It might seem to be working on an existing save, but not really.

2. This mod overrides window_diarchy.gui, temporary_regency and regency in 00_regencies.txt, DIARCHY_MONTHLY_POWER_CHANGE in 00_defines.txt. Please report any potential compatibility issues you encountered. You're also welcome to post your own patch.

3. If you use lots of mechanical mods (or even overhaul) and don't want to deal with compatibility issues, you can use the Lite Version of this mod. Simply put the "Social Relations Expanded Lite" patch below this mod in your load order.

I have to agree with @rpeede23

The regency is far too easy to deal with. The modifiers should be made harder and especially the disadvantage from being a child.

Hi @Big Uncle, I have translated the mod into Spanish. Could you upload it?

@Sjin This is one that has had my focus as of recent. I always had problems with this mod following the prescribed load order. Using MB+ myself. It wasn't until I put this mod on the other side of Unified UI that I saw this mod working properly (Big list 140 mods) Fist time i've seen the Icon appear to look at Swing Momentum, the ability to view swing balance, and intial swing, was once I made this change. I've used this mod forever, I started with a small playlist of about a dozen or so, and it was the same thing back then. I almost wrote this one off

I have played many times to try and get my regent to take over the kingdom from me and it has never actually worked. The problems are that even when regents get close to rebellion, they've made other vassals so mad along the way that they don't get support. Or they get so stressed that they die. Is there a way to moderate this effect?
Also, can you make it so that a player has to purposely make the choice to dismiss the vizier/regent, rather than simply having it done either randomly, or if I leave the kingdom and return? I also see where a high-level regent gets replaced and there is no legacy build up for the next regent. They often start back at zero. Or an entrenched regent gets overthrown and it drops to a regular regency.
I have rarely had to make moves to fight off a regent who is gaining power. They either run out of resources on their own, get stressed out and die early, or get replaced by someone with no skills, or resources, or are less self-interested.
