Description
War Debuffs - Version 2.1

The aim of this mod is to let you feel and deal with the troubles of medieval warfare. To achieve this, it makes war more difficult and decisive by adding modifiers for your economy, control and public opinion as well as several war related events.

Conscription for Military Service: During war, all men liable for military service were conscripted. As in medieval times men where primarily responsible for producing food or goods for trade, a realms economy suffered during times of war. The rulers attention was set on winning the war which led to him paying less attention to internal safety.
Effect: When at war, randomly decreases development growth and control in all provinces that are directly held by a ruler who is at war.

Destruction of Sieged Holdings: After a successful siege, villages or baronies where often severely damaged or even completely destroyed. The part of the population that couldn't escaped in time fell victim to the attackers. After the war, those villages or baronies would be resettled but under horrible conditions: lack of food and diseases.
Effect: If a province gets occupied after a siege, they randomly lose development, get a random public opinion reduction and a random reduction to development growth for 1 up to 5 years. Additionally, a random building (excluding duchy and special buildings) in the sieged holding gets destroyed.

Events during and after War: During war you can encounter events that can influence the outcome of the war in or against your favour. After war, you encounter events that help you to deal with it's consequences. Currently, there are 8 Events (6 for the Player, 2 for AI). Some events require an appointed Marshal.


To-Do:
- Even more Events during war to increas difficulty by feasible invasions of bordering rulers, bandit raids, popular uprising and unhappy vassals
- More events in postwar period to possibly reduce debuffs and speed up rebuild

Known Problems

If there are problems with the english localization please let me know because i play the game in a different language.


*All Debuffs apply to AI also (but are softer than for the player)

*All Changes are always documented in the Changelog

20 = { trigger_event = wd_event_war.1010 } #Material Failure seems to be bugged.
game is sometimes not applying flag = had_wd_material_failure_event_flag making the event trigger multiple times in a row, often killing my characters from the stress they receive. Basically they die from stress every time someone declares war on them.

I read the file in notepad++ and i find this is the mod that have a event that adds soldiers for free.


You should fix that.

I'd like to see the destruction of a building be a random chance rather than a sure thing. And as the previous commenter says, the implementation of the penalties for being at work could do with a bit more granularity — I don't know how easy or even possible this is, but maybe the effect could only occur while at war if your armies aren't in your realm.

I like the idea but implementation is bs. Like penalties apply even if you being called to ally's war and don't even really participate. Meaning in practice your control will aways be in red.

Maybe add some game rules. Some customisation would be really cool, especially regarding the amount of development lost due to an occupation.

This mod is amazing it makes the game way more challenging. It also forces you to really think before starting a war. A must have from now on!
