Description
Let's cut to the chase:

Are you tired of having the best mod in Total War ruined by the cryptic, buggy and broken AI? Tired of having your dreams broken when even the most knowledgeable modders scratch their heads at how to fix the AI not being able to effectively respond to your maneuvers? Is hammer and anvil so easy that you barely have to try?

FROM NOW ON, NO MORE.

With the help of an anon modder, Prometheus, whom really hates the spotlight but loves to work, we created a Battle AI that fixes almost all critical bugs, and completely changes the game experience for the better!

Meta level:

- AI uses formations, and redeploys efficiently: no more easy exploit where a quick maneuver confused the AI and ruined their battle formation

- AI recognises terrain consistently: tries to take the high ground systematically

- AI systematically recognises, counters, and initiates flanking and rear maneuvers

- AI utilises all unit classes effectively, based on their nuances (light horse vs medium vs heavy vs shock, for example)

- AI protects their general, but will send them in to battle and not let them isolate 9/10

- Cavalry will stop being suicidal at least 50% less than before

- Siege behavior and pathfinding has been noticeably improved. AI will even attack multiple points when available


Individual

- Units have their own "AI" which is created through scripts and new animation sequences that lead to units acting like individuals

- formations engage each other in incredibly dynamic ways, and numbers really count. Units will get isolated and broken into in ways that never happened before (see image 3, the Indian levies vs the Persian Sparabara, notice how there are pockets of fighters, groups small, large, created organically during the fight)


Database Changes

- Ammo has been decreased significantly, to incentivize smart missile usage, and make logistical upgrades more valuable

- Overhauled fatigue to increase combat and shooting fatigue, and increased the penalties from fatigue. But recovery rate has been increased as well: CYCLING UNITS THAT ARE TIRED IS NOW NECESSARY IN A TIGHT BATTLE

- Overhauled ground effects from mud, snow, forests, etc

- Increased projectile speed and damage slightly

- Morale overhauled to have units begin to rout at around 50% casualties, to reflect the reality that seeing half your comrades murdered is the most obvious indicator things are not going well


Many more small changes too, that add up to an incredible battle experience, that we all have been waiting for so long! We are proud to give this to the community! Some bugs are to be expected, but so far none game breaking. Please report on DEI submod discord

Hi, first of all your work sounds amazing!
Since DEI has been updated in jenuary 2024 and this mod's last update was in december 2023, will it be compatible?

Love the AI; hate the stat changes, half the time your units are stuck in an unending melee, cavalry charges do nothing and fatigue is kinda funky. Wonder if you could split the mod in different submods, then it would really shine.

am i doing something wrong?: imperator augustus campaign and agains other roman factions the battle takes ages, the legionaries dont seem to do much damage against other legionaries

Correction the Romaqns will attack singled out men rarely and they do do kill animations rarely

@Garviel Loken This mod works great, however whenever i try Legionnaires vs Hoplites Ive noticed the hoplites dont attack as much as they should and the Legionaries never attack and only beat their shields.

I have very little modding experience so Im no expert. But from my experience with overhand grip I dont think the game has enough animations for it and it messes up combat.
I dont know if the shield beating contributes, though i doubt it, although personally as a Roman History nerd I prefer them not to to look more disciplined(and i believe sources like Vegetius talk of a "quiet advance") but i still understand it did probably happen

Hope you can fix it because i dont think the Legion can do damage to them besides their pillum

Shouldnt you be on Titan building the Grey Knights like Malcador ordered?
