Description
A Diving Suit Overhaul
Immersive Diving Gear is a purely xml based overhaul for diving suit gameplay and makes it more challenging by adding dynamic suit pressurization. It will take time to stabilize the suit pressure before you can enter pressurized water without taking damage. Suits will also make you considerably slower while walking.

Load Order:
- Immersive Diving Gear
- Any mod that changes or adjusts things about diving suits

Diving Suits:
  • Pressure Valve:
The suit has an integrated button interface to open and close the pressure valve. An open pressure valve releases built up pressure and allows you to breath hull oxygen instead of your tank content.
A closed valve will only take effect if you're wearing a diving suit helmet with a seal in it. Once the valve is closed it'll start the pressurization process and cuts off access to hull oxygen. You're now reliant on the tank in your suit. Every few seconds your suit pressurizes more and allows you to dive 500m deeper. Once the pressurization icon turns green the suit has reached it's maximum pressure value and will allow you to dive up to the suits maximum depth.

  • Slower Movement:
Diving suits will now reduce your movement speed more than they did before when wearing them while walking.

  • Slot Change:
Suits are no longer equipped in the outer clothes slot and instead will now be equipped in your inner clothing slot. So you got to get out of your clothes and into the diving suit.

  • Bot Friendly:
Bots will automatically equip a custom helmet which can't be interacted with and receive instant pressure protection to prevent them from dying as their AI can't handle more complex systems. Once the bot takes off the suit or the player takes control and the bot is no longer pressurized and in water, the helmet will despawn.

Diving Helmets:
Diving helmets are required to pressurize a diving suit. A diving helmet requires a suit seal to allow the suit to build up pressure and a battery if you want to make use of the helmet lamp.
The lamp can be toggled on and off via an interface.

Any diving helmet can be worn with any diving suit as they do not provide any stats nor any oxygen on their own. The diving helmet is worn in the outer clothing slot to allow you to also wear a mask or other headgear underneath it.

The sounds are also overhauled to not play randomly and instead play the distinct water bubble sounds (with visual bubbles rising from your helmet) when breathing while in water and in-suit breathing sounds when not in water.

Hey so uh, sometimes when getting surgery with neurotrauma on you just explode, despite not having a suit on for the past few minutes

No clue why that happens - is that maybe some desync with the outer armor slot (where the helmet or body armor goes in)?

this is probably a dumb question, but will there be a compatibility patch with the mod "[EA-HI] Animated Barotrauma with male characters" it works just fine when putting the Immersive diving suits above it, but the art styles clash and it looks quite odd.

Dangerous when playing with bots in singleplayer. Lost too many crewmen swapping to them during a breach and having the helmet disappear while trying to stablize the ship

@Intalia: Can't reproduce this issue. Did you make sure to install and enable the compatibility patch?

@Shade: Yes, Helmet spawning is completely random.

@Why are we still here: I was able to reproduce it so I hopefully get to fixing this soon now.

@ratatouille: lol

@CaptainBadger: Correct :steamthumbsup:

@Viper: What needs to be made compatible? No pressure damage when taking off a pressurized suit probably?

@Giggles: I may be misunderstanding it, but you can still craft diving suits with this mod.

@cursedsanti: I'll check it out, but no promises.

@lovbru1: I did plan to do that one eventually.

For some reason, the Anechoic suit doesn't behave like the initial suit, basically it doesn't need the helmet because when you equip it it goes to the suit slot, a slot that in this mod is used for the helmet, thus making the helmet unnecessary for this specific suit, I don't know if this happens with other suits, but compared to the initial suit where immersion works and the Anechoic, that was the difference.

can you add a compatibility with barotraumatic?
cursedsanti 14 Oct @ 7:23pm
hello, can you do a compat addon for Animated Arms: Adaptive Combat?
Giggles 22 Sep @ 7:53pm
Soft incompatability with any of the Barocraftable mods as dive suits aren't craftable (given this mod replaces them).
Viper 10 Sep @ 8:55am
i have a really dumb request. can you make it work with robotrauma remake?
CaptainBadger 30 Aug @ 3:08pm
@ratatouille I can't tell if you're actually being serious or not, it's not like you're being forced to use the mod and I sincerely doubt M is going to change anything considering how wholly unhelpful your comment is.
