Description
=== Mission Overview ===
ROUT: Battle for Freedom is a capture the island style game. Capture the current objective by destroying the vehicles and killing most the enemy infantry. It offers ground vehicles and helicopters to the players as well as additional friendly ground forces.

Features:
  • solo or coop team play
  • save game feature
  • virtual arsenal
  • virtual garage
  • high command available
  • player roles
  • friendly AI squad
  • many adjustable parameters to suit the game to your liking

The enemy in the active zone will have a couple vehicles (if enabled in the parameters) as well as plenty of troops. These troops can have launchers or not (set in the parameters).

The mission can be instantly moved to any map just by changing the pbo filename.

=== Resources Available ===
Bases: You start with one base. Upon capturing a zone a new base may be created if there is no base within a couple km. You can fast travel between bases (see Supports below). In bases you will find vehicles, a vehicle garage, an officer to choose your role and more. See Bases below for all the details.

Allies: You have squads of allied AI (if enabled in the parameters). They will spawn at the nearest base and head to the objective. Allies do not have any launchers (AA or AT) unless it's enabled in the parameters. This would leave all enemy vehicles to you to destroy. If you get knocked unconscious while allies are nearby, they should come revive you. Allies can be setup in the parameters to wait at the base for delivery to the AI or just head out immediately.

Teammates: Your squad leader can request additional teammates to join you squad (see the officer controls). These teammates will revive any player or other teammate nearby. They will follow the squad leader and are controllable as normal in Arma. They have an additional feature in that they can follow a specific player if requested (use the action menu on the AI).

Following will cause the AI to keep a couple dozen meters behind the player. The AI will enter/exit vehicles that the player gets in/out of. The AI will copy the player's stance as well. This allows players to split off from the group (to do recon or sniping for instance) and still have a teammate to help revive them. The squad leader can recall the following AI by issuing a 'regroup' command.

Supports: A few supports are available from the supports menu. (0-8 on the keys above the keyboard, not the number pad.) The supports (excepting the fast travel) use the point you are aiming at when you make the call to indicate where you want the support to arrive. If you aim at the sky, it will bring up the map for you to choose.

Helicopter transport: There are helicopters on standby to transport players. Aim at an LZ or up in the sky and select this options to call the helicopter. Once in play, the helicopter can be controlled through it's call sign in the menu. You can give it new LZs on the map, or indicate you are done and it will fly away.

Vehicle Drop: This will drop a random vehicle at the designated location.

Supply Drop: This will drop an arsenal at the designated location.

Flares: This will drop flares for about 5 minutes at the designated location. It's useful for night missions where NVGs are not available.

Fast travel between bases: When you are in a base, you will have this option to fast travel to any of your other bases.

If playing the game solo, with only one player, there will be a pause game option added to the players action menu (mouse wheel) when not in a vehicle. A useful feature for bathroom breaks or answering phone calls.

=== Base Features ===
Vehicles: The base will have helicopters and trucks for transporting allied squads closer to the objective. There will also be tanks or apcs or cars.

Garage: There is also a Garage option at the officer where any vehicles (as allowed in the parameters) can be spawned in.

Vehicle Resupply: There is a resupply location at the base (near the fuel, ammo, and repair trucks) where any stopped vehicle will get rearmed, refueled, and repaired.

Officer: The officer has options for choosing your role, opening the garage, as well as a lot of options for the squad leader. See the Officer controls for more information.

=== Officer Controls ===
The officer controls include:

Choose Role: Allow the player to choose the role they will play in the group. See Roles below.
All players will have a View roles option on their action menu when they are not in a vehicle to quickly remind themselves which roles they have selected.

Open Garage: This will open a virtual garage allowing any vehicle to be spawned in. The garage can be disabled in the parameters or can be unlimited, limited to faction only vehicles, any vehicle of the players side (blufor,opfor,independend), or any vehicle on the players side found in the selected DLCs.

The following are only available to the squad leader:
Recruit/dismiss AI squad mate: This allows the players team to add or remove AI teammates.

Increase/Decrease Friendly Squads: This allows the squad leader to increase/decrease the number of friendly squads during the game. The initial number is set in the parameters.

Relinquish Leadership of Sqad: This allows the player to give up leadership of the team to another player.

Change Ally Wait Behavior: This is the same options as found in the parameters, but is available here if the squad leader wants to change it during the game.

Skip Time: This allow skipping time until sunrise, noon, sunset, or midnight.

Clean Up: This will delete all the dead units, gear on the ground, abandoned/destroyed vehicles. Most items are cleaned up automatically if the players leave the area, but this option is available if performance is an issue.

Save Game: This will save the games current state. The game is automatically saved after each base is captured as well as every 10 minutes. The save includes where base/objectives are located, which objectives have been captured, how many enemy infantry/vehicles are at the current objective, and the player loadouts.

=== Parameters ===
The mission has many parameters. The description of all the parameters can be found in the mission briefing.

This is a coop mission, so it can only be played in the multiplayer part of Arma, although you can play it solo and private without being accessible to anyone else. This is how to play this mission:

Launch Arma. Once it's started select 'multiplayer' then 'server browser'
At the top select 'host server'. A list of settings will show up. Look at the 'HOST' option. If you have it set to 'LAN' then it will be a private game. Click the 'Host Server' button.
Next you should choose the map on the left, and the mission on the right.
Then click 'play'.
