How to run Call of Pripyat on steam deck! Works for me 100% Nothing else did.
By Rich
So I tried just about everything to get this game to run on my steam deck. In the end I gave up. But tonight I was following a guide to run Batman Arkham Asylum which fixed the issues i was having with that game. So i thought to myself ... "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ will Call of Pripyat work with this?" And guess what? It totally does my Cheeki Breeki's!!

This may already be know but i couldn't find it anywhere in the guides so forgive me if this is a duplicate. I take absolutely no credit for this..

Desktop Mode
First, you will want to go out to desktop mode.
KDE Discover
Open the Discover app, and install ProtonUp-QT. Open it.
Add Proton GE
Select "Add Version" and download the latest version of Proton-GE.
Finishing up
Go back to the Deck UI, aka "Gaming Mode". Open the properties for Call of Pripyat, then go to the "Compatibility" tab, and select the Proton-GE version you downloaded.

Enjoy the game Stalkers!!!

If you get any weird rendering artifacts when you get to the menu Change the render mode to Full Dynamic lighting, ie not the directx11 one

Hmm being on OLED shouldn't effect this as its more of a software thing. I'm currently on the pre-release branch and up to date on latest version of steam OS. I installed this again a week or so ago to play on my flight and didn't run into any issues. Hope you get it working.

This unfortunately doesn't work for me. I've tried so many different versions of proton, and nothing works. I've got the OLED SD, so unsure if that matters.

if you can run the game up to the point where it says “Your video card doesn’t meet game requirements. Try to lower game settings.” then your all good. Then change comparability version properties and reboot and should work just fine.

Basically you want the direct x to install. Sometimes I had to reboot my steam deck a few times to get it working on mine. Sometimes I had to change proton version to one of the older steam deck version in comparability mode for example V7 to make this happen. When that's installed then change to the GE proton version. One thing iv found with games not launch correctly on steam deck after installation i just have to reboot. Even on games that dont need GE.

Howdy, I've done my best to follow these instruction for my steam deck and I've gotten the game to open but it stays stuck on the start up screen where it says "stalker call of pripyat" and it doesn't change or do anything even if I've sat there for 20+ minutes.

you need to go to the properties on the game and change it to compatability mode and select the proton GE one

Good evening! So I’m pretty weak on Linux…. I installed GE-Proton8-28. I still get the warning “Your video card doesn’t meet game requirements. Try to lower game settings.” Help?

There is also a way to do this through the settings file in the games folder. You might need to google this bit tho as I don't know off the top of my head,

I had the exact same thing, I managed to do this in the options menu for graphical settings.
