The plan for the construction of the North Pechora railway Konosha-Kotlas-Vorkuta was adopted in 1937.
By order of the People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs of May 10, 1938, the construction of this northern highway was entrusted to Sevzheldorlag, who was given 7 years for all work — from May 1938 to September 1945.
The main labor force in the construction was supposed to be prisoners.
The outbreak of the Great Patriotic War made harsh adjustments to the construction schedule of the North Pechora Railway.
The country was in dire need of fuel, oil and coal were worth their weight in gold. The construction site has acquired a truly strategic state significance.

The construction of the Kotlas—Vorkuta highway ended on December 28, 1941, and through traffic began on March 5, 1942, after the construction of the Konosha —Kotlas road section was completed.

In the northern cities of the Komi ASSR - Ukhta, Pechora, Inta, Vorkuta in the 1950s, standard railway stations appeared, differing from each other only in the details of external and internal architectural design.
