Garfish UAV[H] - Fighter Drone

In 1 collection by Lost-Recon
Fighters, Gunships and Small Grid Vessels
276 items
Description
Heavily inspired by the Barracuda Fighter from StratusGaming

The Garfish UAV Hydrogen variant is a fast and nimble drone in air and vacuum for mass production.

Capable of being programmed and utilized for a multitude of tasks, it can be an automated defense fighter, a carrier escort or even a scout craft to areas too dangerous to go in person.

Its weapon arsenal allows it to be an effective dog-fighter, skirmisher and bomber for any sort of engagement. Ideally it’s meant for short and decisive fights but its laser antenna allows it to travel larger distances then a normal unmanned fighter and be able to execute stealth operations.

Pre-packaged with a variety of weapons, AI blocks and the essentials, it can easily be adapted to suit your needs for an automated expendable fighting force.

Built mostly with vanilla blocks (only using 1 Transparent LCD that is not essential) the Garfish is accessible to any Space Engineer who requires a bit of firepower for ease of mind.

Your foes will feel its Bite!

Awesome man, thanks for posting.

You can make it so that if it loses connection it flies back towards a beacon (from a Command Center or Mother Ship). That way it would regain connection or it can auto land using timer blocks and recorder blocks.

There are Youtube videos that show how to do that. This drone is just a blank slate for you to use as you need fit.

You kinda just blew my mind. I can control one drone, and have the others follow me. I pretty much never remote into things... but apparently there are lots of reason to. lol.

Is return to ship on connection lost built in already, or is that a feature I could add if I wanted to?

Thanks. the top and back laser antenna are so that in combat it would maintain connection even when one is damaged. You are correct about the stealth aswell.

I built It mostly to get the achievement Planetesphobia and to have an AI squadron aswell that would fly together from a carrier ship. You could take control of one and have 2 others connected to each other programmed to follow the leader and engage hostiles.

Also voxels and blocks can block the signal. but that's why this drone was made with a carrier ship/command center in mind. You can use the ai blocks and event controller to make it fly back to base if it loses connection.

In the end it was made to be an extremely versatile drone that could fill most of any role you need with very few modifications.

This looks really cool man.

I guess the top AND back laser antennas are to help it stay in contact? Pretty expensive... but required for stealth.

What happens to them if they fly to a position where an asteroid is between you and them..? Lost contact. Do they continue to perform their duties until contact is regained, or do they freeze?
