Asuka Refit

"One of the original 10 baron classes constructed shortly before the outbreak of war with the RBN BB-06 Asuka would become one of if not the most infamous of its class for its continued heroics and actions in the war with the RBN and on. Seeing its first action at the first battle of Overrent the Asuka was nearly destroyed, barely managing to escape after using the planet's gravity well to perform a slingshot maneuver before using its little remaining power to jump away to safety. Soon after the Asuka was rescued and towed back to an APF port to receive immediate repair. Following a new APF protocol to utilize all damaged assets and get them back on the front lines as soon as possible the Asuka received major upgrades to some of its systems and interior. These upgrades turned it from a standard pocket battleship into a capable command vessel intended to be more effective in leading other ships in a fleet, a field of operation the standard Baron functioned poorly in.

The Upgrades given to the Asuka are as follows:
Improved radar for detecting and tracking friendly and enemy units in the field
Increasing the crew size from 2 to 4 allowing for the captain to take on a battlefield commander role
Upgraded jump drives allowing for more rapid and longer range jumps
Improved communications equipment for coordinating multiple ships
A larger interior for accommodating the crew
Upgraded CIC for controlling the ship
Rear engine bay access and a streamlined engine
Railgun firing mode switch allowing both burst and single fire modes
An extra point defense gatling mounted covering the aft

With the upgrades complete and the Asuka ready to take command of the newly formed 4th defense fleet there remained one problem, the APF had no experienced commanders willing to take the job. All of their experienced commanders were already either serving in other important positions or believed the mass production BB project to be waste of time and resources, instead leaning in favor of the new cruisers being fitted with Flame Flash missiles as the best counter to the RBNs superior fleet. Due to this lack of commanders the Asuka's previous commander, the young Fennica Vanlaera, was assigned back to the Asuka with a fresh new crew of other young officers. While she held doubts about commanding the Asuka after her failure at Overrent she accepted the assignment nonetheless, ready to prove herself as a competent commander. With a determined crew and lessons learned from her battle with the RBN at Overrent Fennica employed a unique strategy in her first battle in command of the 4th Defense Fleet. Where as standard APF doctrine dictated that BB class vessels should hold the back line and stay grouped together to focus their fire, she instead ordered her vessels to split up and attack from multiple angles, recognizing that leaving the poorly armored Barons grouped up would leave them vulnerable to counter attack after the first salvo was exchanged. An issue especially prevalent when outnumbered as the APF often were. At first other commanders were appalled by this chaotic fighting style but as Fennica racked up victories one after another some began to adopt similar strategies. Thanks to her record of success and quick thinking in battle Fennica earned her nickname as "the Space Vixen" among many APF troops. The actions of the Vixen, her crew, and her followers did not go unnoticed by APF high command who began to give the 4th Fleet even more challenging assignments as well as bolstering their numbers with new ships such as the one of a kind "Super Baron" Balaigen which was transferred over to the 4th fleet shortly after its completion. What followed is a story of heroic battles, last stands, narrow escapes, and daring rescues that would forever change the course of the APF - RBN conflict bringing a flame of hope to those all across the APFs space and beyond..."

The ship itself here is basically an aesthetic improvement of the normal Baron with an actually good interior this time as well as some other fun features and a whole lot of LORE. Hope you enjoy and I can't wait to do more with this ship in the future ;)

*small note: all lore is subject to change in the future, this was made for a hero ship competition hosted by stratus so i wanted to have as much lore as possible right now. I plan to further develop the universe this is set in through cinematics and more ship description lore pages (which i have already done for previous ships just not to this extent)
