The problem and its solution:
If you want to play in GTA V with mods for cars and for some reason your game starts to crash (shut down), then you should take the actions outlined in this mini-guide.

First, you should determine what is the problem itself.

  • 1. the game crashes at startup
  • 2. the game shuts down while loading
  • 3. The game shuts down while playing after some time

All these problems have one thing in common: improperly used modification files or improper installation of extensions.

I have specified the process of installing basic modifications in this guide:
https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2888134604

Here are links to mods if you suspect that the version of your scripts and mods is out of date:

In case you have done all the actions mentioned in the guide and the game still shuts down, here is what you should check:

First, let's compare the versions of gameconfig that you are using in conjunction with your game. Perhaps you are using an "outdated" version of GTA V and gameconfig, which you download, is not supported by your version of the game. To check: go to the folder with GTA V, right-click on the file GTA5.exe and in the window "Details" compare the version of your game and the version of gameconfig, which you use. In case of mismatch - look for the version of gameconfig that will be supported by your game.

If the game version is the same, we move on to the next step. Using OpenIV, find the gameconfig file, which you either plan to use or already use in your game files. Open this file with any text editor (Notepad will do) and do the following manipulations:

Find the line: "<PedMemoryMultiplier value="500"/>" and change the value to get "<PedMemoryMultiplier value="1200"/>".
Then in the line "<VehicleMemoryMultiplier value="500"/>" change the value to get "<VehicleMemoryMultiplier value="1200"/>"

If you use a large number of mods, including such as Vanillaworks Extended Pack [Add-On | OIV | Tuning | Liveries] 2.5 or World of Variety, perhaps the problem of crashes is due to incorrect loading of individual models included in these modifications.

In this case, you can use the excellent Anti-Crash Hotfix for Replace Cars 1.1, which fixes most of the known bugs associated with spawning cars.

To install this mod, open OpenIV and go to the path:
" /update/update.rpf/common/data/ai/vehiclemodelsets.meta " and drop the file from the archive here (don't forget to enable redactaion mode)
