History

Considered outdated in just about every era we saw it in, this Koensayr Manufacturing classic is back once again, this time to destroy some German Separatist battleships in SE. Used prolifically by the Republic in the beginning of the Clone Wars, this speedy bomber did it's job well, blowing up many Separatist admirals' bridges to pieces. This heavy starfighter sparkled the creation of several elite squadrons, like Red Squadron, Gold Squadron and the most famous of all - the Shadow Squadron, who carried out a desperate, but a successful attack on the Malevolence. Towards the end of the war, Y-Wings were incrementally phased out by more versatile fighters like ARC-170, but squadrons that still had them - usually retained them. It is unknown whether the Galactic Empire used BTL-B's to any extent, or scrapped them right away. It is also a mystery, whether Rebel Alliance ever got their hands on any Republic-era Y-Wings, or if they only used later BTL-S3 and A4 variants.

Pros: a variety in armament, solid amount of ammo, ability to fly even in the worst of atmospheres, pressurized cockpit, good maneuverability and a self defense turret.
Cons: a gigantic silhouette from sides and top, and, considering the size, lacking amount of fuel tanks.

Additional Notes:
  • Programmable blocks are turned off by default to improve performance. If you still desire to use them - access the terminal and toggle the group "Programmable Blocks" on.
  • If you want to dock the Y-Wing with a Connector - don't deploy the landing gear.
  • By the time I finished this, I kind of realized that because of the turret, my model looks more like an S3 variant. Won't change the name because that would confuse the people, but it's a funny coincidence.

Only today did I learn the difference between the BTL-S3 and BTL-A4 - apparently BTL-A4 was the exact same thing, but without a seat for a gunner, lol.

can confirm, by the time order 66 came down, the y-wing was being updated to the rebels model, but got phased out in favor of the TIE series for strike craft, and during the clone war was already being semi replaced by the ARC-170. The rebels took the latest version as the empire was scrapping the entire model line

@amber_n_murray if it did, it would list required DLC's on the right.

@Captain_chance23 same. It is a much more balanced and sleek design.

@unknownstreak33 again, sinking +5k hours into Space Minecraft is what got me to this point, and I am not really proud of it.

@GryffintheBaron emphasis on Republic-era . Y-Wings we see in Rebels are already of the A4 variant, same as in New Hope. When writing description, I specifically meant BTL-B, because outside of Clone Wars, they seem to have completely disappeared from lore. The only source that sort-of hints towards Rebel use of BTL-B's is Star Wars Blueprints: Rebel Edition , but even then - hints .

for this line in the description "It is also a mystery, whether Rebel Alliance ever got their hands on any Republic-era Y-Wings" its is star wars rebels when they grab several y wing bombers from being incinerated

@Captain_chance23 if I do - it will only be the TCW version. I find the original Z-95 from legends to be hideously ugly.
Captain_chance23 27 Aug, 2023 @ 10:30pm
nevermind i fixed it. sorry bout that lol.
btw would you ever make a Z-95?
Captain_chance23 27 Aug, 2023 @ 8:39am
i actually didn’t even touch The connectors. I only removed the cockpits to try to Make a drone swarm of These things (because that always ends well) and it started doing that. even when i manned it it still kept being Weird.
