L-Gate Access Vote for SP & MP

Description
Stellaris - L-Gate Access Vote for SP & MP Mod

Did you ever play a Stellaris MP game with your friends, only for one of them to ruin the game, either intentionally or accidentally, by opening the L-Gates way before you and the others were ready to face the Gray Tempest? Well, so have I. This mod introduces an event chain, for up to 20 players, where players need to vote on whether or not they want to open the L-Gates when someone tries to open them. If they fail to reach a majority, the gates will stay locked and in 10 years, another vote will commence.

This vote can also be used to stop the AI, in singleplayer or in multiplayer, from opening the cluster, until the player(s) is/are ready to open the L-Cluster.

Compatibility
  • Not Achievement/Ironman Compatible
  • Can conflict with mods that has changes to the L-Gates/Distant Stars Story Pack

Guide to the L-Gate Vote

Play as you would normally, by gathering sufficient insights in order to unlock the special L-Gate Activation technology. When this research is completed, an event chain will trigger where all non-AI players can vote on whether or not they want the player to open the L-Gates. If a majority is formed, every player gets a special scientist with the L-Gate Lockdown Piercer trait, which is needed for the special project to open the L-Gates.

Even though it should speak for itself, this is how a majority is formed:

The number of total people can easily be increased on request, but since I think that nobody would ever play with more than 20 people in one game, I have chosen this number to minimize the huge lap of coding needed for one event. But if you are planning on playing with more people, and would like this number to be increased, let me know!

Feel free to use the mod for a modpack, but do please let me know and post credit to this page. Thanks in advance!

I hope you enjoy and if you have some suggestions, be sure to let me know!

I keep saying it, the gray tempest is a HOAX, it doesn't exist. Stop showing us tampered footage on the galactic community.
- Some clueless empire, 2272.

Its ridiculous there isn't a thing in vanilla to prevent the galaxy being vaporised harder than an actual endgame crisis.

do you think you could make a modified version that uses the Galactic Community, to make it a law?

Could even allow you to ban ships from going in, block them off so if opened you can't use them (great for if it's the one that going into the wrong system is bad), and more!

Awesome mod too, by the way!

Why is this not already in Stellaris multi-player? This would make a great addition to Stellaris in a future update! It should be included in the laws possible in the Galactic Community.

Would be cool if this could somehow get passed through the GC, maybe with measures to pre-emptively ban opening the L-Gates

needs an "open it anyways" option wich additionally declares total war on every other species that isn`t a fallen empire. other than that, while i`m not gonna use it myself it sounds like a great mod.

Would have thought something like this would a Galactic Community Resolution, but this is a better more fail-safe way of making sure it's not opened early (and not overpowered by diplo-weight)

Good mod! Extra props for making this an in-universe thing, makes the game a bit more immersive thanks to that
