MS Holtlink - Small Landing ferry/craft

Description
M/S Holtlink

Information, specifications, etc.

History (fictional!)

Early years

The ship's type wasn't really a new thing - ships like her were already being used from the 1960s (SW Time). This type of vessel was first created in the Sawyer Isles to connect up the various beaches there. The ship wasn't ever anything special either, she was the 3rd ship of this type for Sawyerlink. First envisioned in 1997 (SW Time), her plans called for a small car ferry capable of carrying 2 - 3 smaller vehicles. The ship's keel was laid in September of 1999 (SW Time), and her building was finished in early April of 2000 (SW Time), when she was launched from the Olsen Bay docks. Only 2 months later, the ship entered service with Sawyer Link.

Career

The vessel's career with Sawyer link wasn't much out of the ordinary, except for some incidents, which these ships would get into quite often (see accidents and incidents). After 19 rather profitable years with the Sawyer link company, the ferry was sold to Olsen Express in August of 2019 (SW Time). There, the ship didn't have the best, career, suffering bad maintenance, and later seeing the company going bankrupt in 2026 (SW Time). At this time, she was old and tired, and after 2 years of having no owners, the ship was sold to a company in multiplayer island. The ship served for 3 more years, until in December of 2031 (SW Time), when she grounded near Olsen Bay, broke up, and was salvaged for scrap.

Incidents and accidents

2008, 24th Feb.(SW Time) - Grounding near Holt town due to a navigational error - slight damage: repaired

2011, 3rd Aug. (SW Time) - Collision with dock in Sawyer North due to an error by the captain - slight damage: repaired

2021, 15th Sep. (SW Time) - Engine room leak due to poor maintenance - repaired

2023, 18th Jan. (SW Time) - Collision with tanker due to rudder failure - 2 injured, heavy damage: repaired

2024, 6th May (SW Time) - Damaged front superstructure due to wave - 3 injured, heavy damage: repaired

Procedures and checklists

Startup
  1. Go to helm at bridge
  2. Turn ON main breaker (electricity)
  3. Turn ON Engine

Docking/Landing
  1. Try to get to a place where the water is the deepest and where the slope is the steepest
  2. Decrease throttle when getting close
  3. When successful ramp looks to be possible, stop ship (warning, throttle isn't very sensitive due to certain reasons, be mindful when docking)
  4. Recommended: drop anchor by using Anchor DOWN, and Anchor Mag, when it reaches the ground
  5. Go to bow, find dark grey door with ramp controls
  6. Unlock Ramp
  7. Use UP or DOWN to raise or lower the ramp
  8. Part C - upper part, part B - middle part, part A - lower part
  9. Use magalls to connect to ramp ground
  10. Be free to change part B and C when the ramp is too steep for your vehicle
  11. When done with this, press all reset buttons, then turn Unlock Ramp OFF

Sinking
  1. Go to engine room
  2. Sinking key ON
OR
  1. Wait for it to sink by itself, should take about 190 minutes in calm conditions
Sinking features can be turned off fully by turning Disable Dynamic Damage System ON infront of the helm
