Empire Protagonist: Open idea project

Description
Update: New screenshots show new skill tree :) Updated porthole. Feedback is always welcome/necessary :)

Update: now he can unlock 3 variants: Spear/Shield, Swords/Shield, Sword/Pistol.
Each variant has their own army buff. BUT if you choose one variant, the other two will become locked.
Pistol variant army buff is a bit OP in comparison with the two others so I'll probably delete outriders and pistoliers from buffed units in the future.

Here's the deal, I played a lot of POE a while back and one thing I like is the skill tree. So I want to bring some of that fun into this game by creating a protagonist. (You'll notice that the naming in this mod is still primitive to keep everything clear until it's acceptable). At the moment, our hero can be recruited in Barracks level 1 as a level 5 so I can keep testing it in a quick way. He starts as a simple spearman. At level 2 he gets the option to invest a skill point to become a swordsman. At level 4, he can become a swordsman with shield (but only if you unlock swordsman first). All two 'skills' are linked to a different variant (with own visuals and animation/weapon). So in that sense I'll try to add stuff like becoming a necromancer or wielding 2 one-handed axes etc. There is also the future option to (to be very blund) have a skill called 'helmet' which would gives our hero +4 armour and change his visual to a fully helmeted hero. Our a skill called "cape" which gives +4 magical ward and makes the character wear a cape etc. So here I am. I want YOUR ideas about how that skill tree should look like. Can a swordsman become a greatswordsman at a high level without being a shielded swordsman first? Will choosing to wield a greatsword lock the option to become a magician with a staff? Can we become a battle magician that wields a 2-handed axe while using lighting spells? Do you want to buff your character with stuff like helmet +4 armour, plated armour +6, metal shield +10 defense before choosing a new class or are they prerequisites before you can choose a certain class? etc etc

Special thanks to Calm&NormalTime who made the "Bruisers" mod. If I didn't get to reverse engineer it, this mod would most probably not exist.

This is actually very cool concept. I can imagine making quest could be a nightmare but I can see it being kinda cool to get some skills/traits by visiting some place like immune to fear after visiting sylvania and/or agent action against vampire. Sure in my head it sounds simple and implementing it could be a diferent story :D This game seriously lack in RPG-ness and closest we got is maybe with team OVN Grudgebringers.

You'll notice that every skill tree contains some of the same skills, this will not be the case in the future :)

Updated skill tree :) Skills aren't locked so every variant is available.

I think it could be very interesting to leave all three variants available to switch between, which would fit the idea of State Troops using different equipment against different enemies.

Question; Do I lock the skills or not? Since the three variants are seen as mounts, in case I make them all unlockable, you can change to another variant each turn which seems quite nice.

Skill tree

A Call of the Empire => Spear and Shield => Devestating Charge/ Get Down!/ Full¨Plate Armour/Hard to Hit => Foe-Seeker => Stop and Stab/ Scarred Veteran/ Indomitable/ Blade Shield (Spear Shield) => Deadly Onslaught (Or Halberd Variant?)
B Empire's Anger => Sword and Shield => Devestating Charge/ Deadly Blade/ Full Plate Armour/ Hard to Hit => Foe-Seeker => Frontline Attacker/ Scarred Veteran/ Indomitable/ Blade Shield => Deadly Onslaught (Or Greatsword Variant?)
C Ready Set Fire => Sword and Pistol => Devestating Charge/ Deadly Blade/ Full Plate Armour/ Blacker Powder => Foe-Seeker => Pistolkorps Captain/ Scarred Veteran/ Indomitable/ Blade Shield => Deadly Onslaught (Or Handgun Variant?)

Link Full Plate Armour skill to New Variantmesh that is Armoured?

Just an idea for direction to take:

Direction idea

A spear/shield = anti-large/ melee defence => Get Down! (bns vs large) / Hard to Hit (mel def) => Stop and Stab (bns vs lrg/ mel def for spears/halberds)
B sword/shield = melee attack/ melee defence => Deadly Blade (mel att) / Hard to Hit (mel def) => Frontline Attacker (mel att/ mel def for swords/gswords)
C sword/pistol = melee attack/ missile strength => Deadly Blade (mel att) / Blacker Powder (mis str) => Pistolkorps Captain (mel att/ mis str for free comp/ handgunners)
