Around four million years ago, the Alterrans faced a devastating plague that swept through their civilization, originating from the construction site of their new capitals, Vis Uban and Elysium Pedion. The deadly disease, which spread across the Milky Way galaxy, was believed to be the result of the ascended Ori, aided by an Alterran named Amara. Despite attempts to travel back in time and prevent its spread, the Alterrans were unsuccessful in stopping the plague. Left with no cure, the survivors split into two groups and decided to leave the galaxy to rebuild. The first group, known as Lantians, departed Earth from Santorini aboard their flying city, Atlantis, aiming for the Pegasus Galaxy. The second group, known as Lympians, left from Thermaic Gulf in their city Olympus, destined for the Aquarius Dwarf Galaxy.

The Astraeus Class Cruiser was the primary workhorse constructed by the Lympians. Equipped with onboard laboratories, the Astraeus Class could conduct short-duration exploration missions, but its main role was to defend Lympian assets. It proved highly effective against native Aquarian Species due to its advanced technology, not just its firepower. The cruiser served as a first strike weapon, with its powerful forward Railguns easily overcoming most resistance. Supported by Heavy Artillery cannons, it could handle threats from a distance, making it hard for adversaries to approach within striking range. All Astraeus Class Cruisers are fitted with a Large Refinery and Assembler for repairs during extended missions or to establish small outposts. Moreover, the internal Hangar was capable of holding several Gateships or shuttles for supply runs or personnel transfers.

Stats:

The Astraeus Class Cruiser was meticulously crafted without the use of any Mods or DLC Blocks, ensuring its "Vanilla" authenticity. I embarked on this endeavour after reading posts by Scoob, who emphasized the prevalence of Workshop items relying on DLC content.

This ship's PCU was kept just below 20k to enable its construction on any Official Keen Steam Server (EOS servers have 2 PCU per Armour block). It is fully Survival Ready, featuring both a Medbay and Survival Kit within its pressurized interior. Moreover, the ship's exceptional fuel efficiency allows it to land on and depart from all planets using minimal fuel (less than 10% when executed correctly).
