US Army Vietnam War

Description
This is a small infantry config faction (with a ridiculous number of infantry groups) made using SOG Prairie Fire DLC, Laws of War DLC & S&S assets. I really wanted to utilise the excellent range of US Army uniforms from S&S which accurately depict US forces during the conflict in South East Asia. I have tried to base the faction addon on research. In particular i have used several Osprey Miltary books depicting US Army units from the later phases of the Vietnam War. However i have added certain 'fantasy' elements to make use of some of the cool S&S gear! Laws of War DLC is required because i needed to use headsets for Pathfinder units. I also used this DLC for bandaged heads on wounded units. Might be of interest to artwork makers.

I used ALIVE's ORBAT creator to make the factions so you cannot override the units' loadouts unlesss you have ALIVE loaded. I don't know how to get around this i'm afraid despite the fact that i have tried but just cannot understand coding that well. You can still add items and change gear once the mission starts through Arsenal/boxes etc.

You'll find the following groups in the mod under 'US Army Vietnam War':

Infantry
Several different groups including but not limited to; Two man sniper and scout teams, ambush squads, (with light equipment), rifle squads, light and heavy teams, demolition teams, full platoons with full packs and gear, full platoons & rifle squads with light gear (no back packs), wet (with rain parkas) and dry weather groups.

- 1st Aviation Brigade Pathfinders (1968)
- 1st Infantry Division (1965)
- 1st Air Cavalry Division (1969)
- 101st Airborne Division (1969)
- 173rd Airborne Brigade (1967)
- 199th Light Infantry Brigade (Ambush Squad only) (1970)
- 9th Infantry Division (1968)
- 25th Infantry Division (1967)

- Generic US Army Platoon (no arm patches) (1968)
- Generic US Army Ambush Squad (no arm patches) (1968)

- F Company 75th Rangers (1969)
- H Company 75th Rangers (1969)
- L Company 75th Rangers (1969)

- Generic 75th Rangers (no arm patches) (1969)

- Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol Groups (1967)

- MACV Advisors (early and late war configurations)

SpecOps
Several different groups including but not limited to; Two man sniper and scout teams, demolition teams, light and heavy teams, full squad

There are also some individual units such as wounded and unarmed soldiers.

Thanks to BI, simcardo for the wonderful S&S & the amazing SOGPF team at Savage.

Feel free to ask any questions or if you have any suggestions for any updates.

not compatible with dynamic recon ops, nor are any of your other vietnam factions.

Is it possible to get in contact with you in pvt? or do you have a discord?

I had tried only running Ace, Dro and your mod with S & S.

I really don't know the answer to this one I'm afraid as I don't use ACE. Only thing I can assume is a mod conflict.

Great mod! But i have one question:
When im using this faction in ACE DRO Cam Lao Nam all AI Units are having camo faces, while when i spawn them in eden editor they don't. Is There any way how i could get rid of the face camo entirely rather than having to manualy change their faces?

@Cpt. Morgan - removed some gear from some units so you won't have the units unable to run/lagging behind rest of squad issue anymore.

Ah I see, just another feature, thanks for the clarification and keep up the great work!

As regards the dual patches showing - that is intentional. I added them mainly to NCOs/squad leaders to show they had done a previous tour of duty in the 'Nam with a different unit. For example if you look at the movie 'Platoon' the character Elias has both the 1st Air Cav patch and the 25th Infantry Division patch showing he had previously served with 1st Air Cav before being transferred to the 25th. Hope that makes sense.

@hunter, it's because the uniformClass on those 9ID troops is, for instance, "U_Simc_tcu_mk3_4id" and then added 9ID patch via BIS_fnc_setUnitInsignia.
Open the PBO and edit the config.
I haven't looked through all, but I take it those 101st or 4ID are on the right shoulder (combat patch)?
