Better Orbital Traders

Опис
Better Orbital Traders is a massive buff and re-balance to vanilla orbital traders. Better Orbital Traders additionally adds 3 new orbital trader types, including an Orbital Scrapyard which will buy ANYTHING. Get rid of your junk!

The quantity of silver carried by base game orbital traders has been substantially increased (within reason), and their stock quantities have been re-balanced to demonstrate the massive size of these ships and the quantity of goods they carry. This change makes vanilla orbital traders more significant for late game colonies and wealthy players, and gives early game players expanded options.

Main Features of "Better Orbital Traders" include:
  • Increased silver capacity of all base game (and DLC) orbital Traders
  • Re-balanced base game trader stocks generally increasing quantities and tweaking carried items
  • Adds an orbital scrapyard trader to buy ALL of your items
  • Adds an orbital ecosphere trader which deals in plant and animal products
  • Adds an organ farm trader that buys/sells humans and human accessories (organs + prosthetics)
  • Adds a narcotics dealer that smuggles all types of drugs and medicine to the rim from wealthy glitterworlds
  • Adds an autonomous archive that sells tech prints (with royalty) and books

This mod DOES NOT interact with any ground based trader, or any traders added by another mod. This mod exclusively impacts base game (and DLC) orbital traders, and the traders this mod itself adds.



Steam Workshop:
  • Open the Steam client and navigate to the RimWorld Workshop.
  • Search for "Better Orbital Traders" in the Workshop search bar.
  • Click on the mod in the search results to access its Workshop page.
  • Click on the "Subscribe" button to download and automatically install the mod.



"Better Orbital Traders" is designed to be a lightweight and highly compatible mod, and compatibility is built-in for some of RimWorld's most popular mods.

However, please be aware that any mod which directly interacts with base game trader stocks may conflict with "Better Orbital Traders" and result in unintended behavior or unbalanced gameplay. It is recommended to check the mod descriptions and community forums for potential conflicts or patches if you are using other mods that affect trade mechanics.

Mods which add new traders, or add new mechanics for trading, should be fully compatible as long as they do not modify the stock of base game orbital traders, which most do not.

Compatibility has been tested and verified with the following trade related mods, and each pairs well with Better Orbital Traders:



Before using the "Better Orbital Traders" mod, ensure you have the RimWorld base game installed. DLCs are not required to use Better Orbital Traders.



Q: Can this be added mid-save?
A: Yes.

Q: Can this be removed mid-save?
A: Yes. Ensure that no modded trade ships are present on the map and then uninstall the mod.

Q: Do I need the DLCs to use this mod?
A: No.

Q: Is this mod compatible with another mod?
A: Probably. This is an XML only mod, so the worst behavior that you should get is improper trade items on base game orbital traders. It's not likely to cause any crashes, and as long as the other mod doesn't modify base game orbital traders, it's unlikely there will be any conflict. See the compatibility notes above for more information.

Q: I have a bug, and I think it's caused by this mod. What do?
A: Create a bug report post on the workshop page of the mod.

Q: Rimworld updated, but this mod hasn't yet. What do?
A: Life happens sometimes, but I will do my best to update all of my mods, including this one, as quickly as I can.

@sloth, after looking at the log, tell me this. If you move Better Orbital Traders to be higher in the load order, before CE is loaded, does that resolve the issue? I think this is being caused by CE removing mortars from the orbital trader stock, and this mod trying to modify it after its removed. I think that changing the load order should fix it.

There appears to be an incompatibility with Combat Extended 1.5. I have been getting an error from this mod which goes away when I remove CE from my modlist. Here is the log - https://gist.github.com/HugsLibRecordKeeper/34477b6b2abca08b6c5c5eb21606f143 - two error messages from this mod start at line 1979. I will also be reporting on CE's page. It does not appear to be game breaking, I have not noticed issues in the past few days of playing.

@Coldcrow it does support custom traders from what i've seen, though unfortunately i couldn't tell you from a technical standpoint how it implements them. you can threaten a ship to hand over their cargo, and if they accept, it just dumps everything they have in your salvage bay- if they don't, you can load their ship- which contains all of their goods- as an enemy ship to attack.

@whenwrašk I have not tested compatibility with SOS, so I am unsure. It depends on how SOS implements those ships, and if they support custom traders being added.

The mod has been updated to resolve that XML error. Mech serums have been moved to the narcotics dealer from the organ farm.
