No idea where steams saves them by default, you should be able to google that though.
The markers come from radio towers that mark enemy units within range. As units move the markers are not 100% on target but just a rough indicator. Sometimes they also mark stragglers or surviving crew, meaning it might be anything from a full squad, vehicles or a single man. So sometimes it can be hard to find what they are pointing towards, especially if you are on the ground.
Like I said, bring it back to a FOB and you can recycle it...
Because this is not based on KP Liberation.
You can recycle them at a FOB to gain ammo.
