Remove EML [TESTING]

Description

TESTING
Currently in public testing to make sure that everything works properly. Use with caution, and always make backups (which you should be doing anyway).

Make sure that you post your output log with any bug reports. Posts about errors or issues that don't include a link to your output log will be deleted.

Recovers prop data from Extended Managers Library (EML) savgames and tries to recover as many props as possible. Without this mod if you unsubscribe from EML you'll lose a portion of your manually-placed props (unless you were using the vanilla prop limit with EML). This mod attempts to recover as many props as possible.

Unusbscribing from EML will also remove any adjustments you'd made to props, such as adjusting their elevation or scale. Again, this mod will attempt to convert EML data into the format used by other mods.

Why remove Extended Managers Library?
The author of EML has left C:S modding and his mods (including Extended Managers Library, Prop Anarchy, and Tree Anarchy) are now abandoned.

These mods were useful prototype experiments in different ways of doing things. However, as prototypes, they all use a very non-standard codebase and have some fundamental issues that can't realistically be resolved by anything other than a full rewrite.

I've made "temporary fix" versions of these original mods to keep them working with game version 1.16 so that people's saves weren't lost. However, given the current state of these mods and the nature of their codebase, I'm not in a position to anything more. While I will attempt to keep them operational, I cannot guarantee success, and there's a chance that they will break completely in the future. There will also be no fixes for the bugs they contain.

Therefore it's highly recommended that people currently using Extended Mangers Library migrate away as soon as possible to protect their saves.

Stable modern replacement functionality for most of EML and Prop Anarchy is contained in the new mods Prop Control, Visibility Control, and Line Tool.

There is currently no direct replacement for EML's expanded prop limit; however, remember that props placed with BOB, Intersection Marking Tool, and Procedural Objects do NOT count towards the prop limit. Using these mods is the recommended (and more stable) alternative to expanding the prop limit.

To use:
  • UNSUBSCRIBE from Extended Managers Library and Prop Anarchy
  • Subscribe to this mod and load the savegame
  • Save the city (with a new save file name, of course!) - note that this save will NOT be loadable using EML any more
  • Exit the game
  • UNUSBSCRIBE FROM THIS MOD
  • (optional) Subscribe to Prop Control
  • Restart the game and load the newly-created save

This mod will try to recover as many props as possible from EML, up to the normal game prop limit (65,535). Note that if you had more props than this the excess props WILL be lost forever. THIS IS NOT REVERSABLE.

Already mentioned above, but to be clear: once a save has been converted using this mod, it will NOT be loadable using EML any more. THIS IS NOT REVERSABLE.

ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR SAVE BEFORE USING THIS MOD. If something breaks and you've overwritten your original save, there's nothing I can do to help you.

EML additional data (prop snapping, precision, and scaling) will be converted to Prop Control format. Prop Control is NOT required to load a converted save (but without it there'll be no prop snapping or precision or scaling).

Note that prop colorization data won't be converted, as there's currently no replacement data source.

Troubleshooting
Make sure you're not trying to use this mod with the EML or Prop Anarchy mods active.

Any other issue? I can't help without your output log; put it on a filesharing site such as paste.ee (note that sites other thatn paste.ee may be blocked by the content filter) and then post the link below, including a clear and complete description of your problem (and also stating if that save had been used with Tree Anarchy).

@LifiRov No idea just from that screenshot, sorry - I'd need to see your output log.

@algernon Hi, help me decide what is this with the list of mods? If I don't launch the save game, some mods are not displayed in the settings and stop working.

@Dimoxinil What you could try is exporting props and decals with Move It from your original save, then make a duplicate save with props and decals deleted. Try using this converter to create a new (third) save file, and then re-import the Move It export.

So I tried this and it worked not that bad. The good: props and decals seem all there, PO seems unaffected. Bad: decals are all shifted by a bit. Not much but visually very obvious. Also all props above or below the ground went back to ground (even if I load with the option of pulling props below ground up to ground off). So the city is recoverable, but it will take me hours to fix all that. Still, better than a permanently broken save.
Is there anything I could have done differently to prevent these issues? thx

@CellmarVisdaHD I'm afraid not; that would be a question for the PO specialists (try the PO workshop page).

@algeron I followed the instructions and performance wise there seem to be no problems, but somehow all my POs disappeared. Any ideas how to fix that?

@KoXz What work specifically?

not working. Unscribed eml, subscribed this, loaded my city and my work with props is gone...

@LifiRov I'd have to refer you to the Skyve page for help and support on that one, I'm afraid, as it's well out of my scope.
