// SUMMARY

UA: Gifts of the Dark Gods: promotions come 33% faster. Intended to represent the many “gifts” that the Chaos gods bestow upon their followers, enhancing their abilities faster than mortal rivals.

UU: Chosen: much stronger Swordsman replacement. Has a custom promotion increasing XP earned by 33%. Chosen are Chaos’s key strength; if you mass-produce them and keep them alive, your army will have a backbone of crazily upgraded infantry.

UU: Marauder Horseman: faster and cheaper Horseman replacement. Gets extra gold from sacking cities and Barbarian camps, and pays no movement to pillage. As great rapid response units for Barbarians and other early threats, Marauders are perfect for securing your empire before you go killing.

There’s only one victory with Chaos: Domination. To maximise your chances on higher difficulties, you need to find all the Iron you can, use it all on Chosen and keep them all alive. Done right, you should be able to conquer anyone, only pausing for breath to let your economy and happiness recover. This is pretty representative of Chaos’s lore.

// DISCUSSION

The Chaos civ is based on Warriors of Chaos – I may make a Daemons or Beasts civ in the future, but for now Warriors are the easiest to represent in Civilization V (and personally, I’ve always preferred them).

Chaos is the raw essence of magic, a natural force of corruption and change that manifests as grotesque daemons and dark gods. Through collapsed inter-dimensional gates, foolishly built in the poles by an ancient race of interstellar beings, it leaks into the world, warping everything it touches. Mortals are seduced into its service by promises of power, and so the Chaos gods recruit near-unstoppable armies intent on bringing about the end of the world.

Archaon is expansionist and aggressive – he will covet your lands, and declare war as soon as he’s either provoked or senses weakness. He'll demand absurd peace terms, even if losing heavily. He’s not at all loyal, but unlike Attila he isn’t deceptive: he’s just nakedly honest about his intention to kill you. He plays a bit like Shaka. If he can’t find a major civ he can beat, he’ll attack city states. He isn’t competitive over wonders or city states and doesn’t mind warmongers: not much annoys him, he’s just a naturally murderous bastard.

Though Chaos should feel unstoppable and intimidating, as an AI, Archaon is no harder to handle than any other aggressive military civ. If you’re his neighbour on a continent in the early game, that might be rough, but in any other circumstances you can hit any aspect of his civ: diplomatic and ideological warfare are both good solutions. He tends to boom in the early game and then fade in the Renaissance era and beyond, when civil administration becomes more important to sustain a large army and empire.

no offense but this civ feels pretty weak compared to the other you made(which are high quality i will say) the chaos civ feels like a weaker version of the zulus who at least had reduced unit maintenance, also no unique building prevents them from having an edge in any catagory, hope improvements are made soon

This Civ is so Weak its not even worth playing with nor having in the game.. what good is extra experience is you still cannot amass armies... further more the PC is really weak when using this civ.. ex is not enough.. maby a 50-70% reduction in unit cost would be in order so you can create the hordes of chaos as intended by the original story.. I'm actually going to unsub this, hope you improove it.
