You got to open the consle using "~", then type in "snd_rebuildaudiocache" then let the bar load up, type in "quit" go back in the game, then done.

That's your problem, in the L4D2 directory, remove the update folder, rebuild the audio cache, let it finish, then quit the game, then put the update folder back, then it will work.
