Descriere
You can find several types of traces of ores in the deep forest, while picking them up they will automatically convert from your bag to ground where you are standing and then while investigating further - turn them into randomised ore deposits. These deposits are heavy and can't be moved. Works both in SP and MP and can be added/removed mid-game.

Details:
  • You find traces of ores while foraging in DEEP FOREST. Need forage skill +5. They should be pretty rare to come by.
  • When finding the traces it will be spawned on the ground infront of you(You have to take a small step to see it in the loot menu.)
  • While having a pickaxe you can investigate the ore traces and it will turn them into one of 7 ore deposits - Rock, coal, iron, salt, aluminum, silver or gold.
  • Rock is the most common while others come with declining frequency with gold and silver being quite rare.
  • There are 3 different sizes of ore deposits - 5-10-20 actions per deposits. After that they will dissapear.
  • Mining activity drains your endurance, thirst and hunger and gives fatigue. It can also give you minor injuries.
  • The mined raw resources are mostly left to be the bottom vanilla items : such as stone, unusable metal and aluminum. With some like salt and coal- they come in a simple ore form that can be converted into table salt and charcoal respectively.

My following mods have more recipes in them to turn some of the mined items into useful stuff:
Real Metalworking - Handles IRON related items - including Gold/Silver.
The Engineer - Handles most of the ALUMINUM related items.
Food Preservation Plus - SALT can be used in various recipes.

Credits :
To my mentor Glytch3r, to Dane who is always most helpful and to the whole PZ modding community for without you I wouldn't have learned half as much. Also to Melo for tuning up my rocks back in the day - I knew I can use them again somewhere!
Russian translation - Thank you axelroadman

This is part of... :
Project Realistic Overhaul - Set of mods I've created that will overhaul the vanilla game experience to be more hardcore and true to life, but on the other hand leaves you the option to make it through and survive. It makes items and actions have more value and makes the world more alive.

Figured i would ask even if no one answers any time soon. I'm on a multiplayer dedicated server i am hosting and I can find prospected ore, but that's all it is. When i find it, it is called "You have prospected an ore" then when I pick it up and hold it, it remains the same. I have a pickaxe, I have one ore at my feet and the other in my inventory but it doesn't change to anything else, just stays as a prospected ore, anyone know anything?

is there a way to influence the spawn rate of the ores, i've walked for 5 hours and only found one which was silver. I'm level 10 foraging and have had the focus on stones. I feel like there is something missing here. how do i change the spawn rate of the unknown rocks to appear.

So an Update to my former comment: I have found ore, iron specifically (it just gave me rocks but that is besides the point) but to help those still looking, i gochu. The rocks are very distinguishable and do not look like vanilla, focus stone when foraging to help find it, and I have a hunch that rocks spawn more commonly on the edge of deep forests but im not 100% on that. Also, if you are tired of the search theres a patch mod that makes the ore spawn rate higher called "Dynamic mining Patch"

You think maybe it has something to do with the fact that Renewable Food hasn't been updated in over 2 years and is unsupported?
Hans Hodenreiter 12 nov. 2024 la 9:51
It seems this mod doesn't work with "[41] [Unsupported] AnaLGiN's Renewable Food Resources" because no ores/stones have spawned when it was active.....

i wish there's is an sandbox setting to increase/decrease chances of spawning ores.

wish there was a way to set ores as a focus, they really are rare as hell

hi im not sure of the chances but i think editing this one (SDMForageStuff.lua) can set the amount you find, if you actually find one in a deep forest
