Guv and Soul's Better Horde Reemergence Mod (Updated 2024-05-01)

Description
Disclaimer: While I might have been the one to bring up the issue, Soul is the genius behind it. He made the script, walked the miles, took the guts, spilled the tears and took time of his life to make this for us. He is the unsung hero. And for that, he deserves the praise, not me. I am just the guy who wanted something, and he chose to deliver. As for that, he has like any other person who's made a script for me in the past my eternal gratitude for making the game better than it is! Here's a Link to Mr. Soul's workshop

Disclaimer nr. 2: I DON'T make my mods with SFO, Radious or other overhauls in mind!!

Why did nobody care about this issue!?
Did you know:
That beastmen, Nakai and Savage orcs respawn after a certain amount of time? Did you also know that they ALWAYS respawn on an unowned region to YOUR highest leveled lord? Did you also know you can BREAK THEIR RESPAWN if you have your highest leveled lord garrisoning a city where you own all the regions around him?
Did you also know that Beastmen do not respawn if you're playing as any Chaos faction???

Ok, so I think you get the point. Horde reemergence is awesome, but sadly very very flawed in it's design. As it stands in vanilla, the respawn is essentially an exp and post-battle loot cheat because you will murder the army the second it respawns unless you were half asleep.
I dislike this design, and Soul and I took it upon ourselves to do what the rest of the community (from what I've seen) didn't think of doing or want to do.

What does this Mod do?
  • Beastmen, Savage Orc hordes and Nakai now respawn on a random region across the whole world rather than the closest unonwned region to your highest leveled lord.
  • Respawned factions declare war on the owner of the region they respawn on. This helps them actually do something.
  • Beastmen can now respawn even if you're playing as a Chaos faction.
  • "Warherd of Chaos", a new minor beastmen faction, can now be respawned too.

Some Info

This mod tweaks a single script, "wh_horde_reemergence.lua".

For details, check the images for better explanation.

also, imo, 60+ is not lategame. I'd say 150-200 is lategame

I am not sure. I haven't experienced any crashes with this mod. I am running it in my current campaign

Hey Guv. So, I am having some issues with CTD into late game (60+ turns) during Beastmen factions turns. I have both your Beastmen Overhaul and this mod (among others). I use others and the WH3 Mod Manager, and couldn't find any conflict... Any guess what might be happening? I really love having Beastmen's as real enemies, so not being able to use this mod is a big shame.

That's a total rework :P I can't do that.

But yes, I should add it to description

Thanks for the update. Might be worth adding this recent change to the mod description.
Like others I like the idea of demons respawning, but I think it should be less random that for beastmen, perhaps linked to corruption levels, cult presence etc. Beastmen appearing from the forest I'm totally on board with, but Skarbrand i'd rather not unless there feels like there's a reason for it.

5.1 update

Made spawned factions declare war on the owner of the region they spawn in.

It almost doesn't sound half bad.

Next update will contain a new feature.
When the faction spawns in on the campaign map, the faction will declare war immedietly on the faction they land on. This helps them actually achieve something.

Can confirm the having the Daemon factions a permanent pain would be awesome

I am not sure. Maybe it is possible? I haven't actually tried.

I like the idea of N'kai and Skarbrand just being a permanent pain in the ass.
