Anti "One Dangerous Zombie" Guide
By soulstreak64
Don't wanna deal with the Bomb Zombie that you accidentally unlocked and keep constantly getting killed by him? (Even though he's easier than you think.) No problem, this guide will show you how to deal with him.

What is the "One Dangerous Zombie"?
The Bomb Zombie (as I'll call it for now), is a dead member of S.T.A.R.S. known as forest Speyer. You might end up finding him on your first playthrough on 2F- Outside Patio simply sitting there...dead. The moment you keep going forward to the end, he'll give you a good jump scare and attack you.

Fortunately, he can be killed if you wish. He doesn't pose much threat....for now.

It's on your...third playthrough where things can get spicy.
How do you unlock him?

Take note on this happening. You'll "unlock" the Bomb Zombie if you beat the game with both Jill AND Chris on Normal or hard in the same save file.

(I.E. If you load up a cleared save file where Jill has already beaten the game on Normal/Hard and beat the game again with Chris on those respective difficulties on THAT save file, you'll "unlock" the Bomb Zombie for future playthroughs.)

Note: once you unlock him, you are unable to deactivate him for that specific save file. He'll run around for good.
Why do people hate him?

There's plenty of reasons why people don't like the Bomb Zombie. Heck, I've heard stories where people straight up quit playing the game because of him.

You might have noticed that the game tells you that you HAVE to run away from him, and there's a good reason for that....because He's strapped with grenades, silly!

Attempting to kill him is futile. If you even DARE to inflict even the smallest point of damage to him...you get an INSTANT game over. That's right, you accidentally cause his grenades to blow up, and cause the mansion to explode, and take you with it. So I hope you saved recently, because you accidentally damaged him and lost progress because of him. Not even the highly destructive Infinite Rocket Launcher will kill him....ok it will, but you'll die because grenades go boom.
Where does he show up?
He's not unpredictable, Bomb Zombie will show up in certain locations in the mansion.

Locations as follows:
Tea room (near Kenneth J. Sullivan's corpse with his back to the Birdcage corridor)

Dining hall (replaces the zombie on the second floor)

2F west staircase (replaces the zombie that arrives through the door from the West terrace when the player returns to pick up the serum for Richard Aiken)

Small dining room (replaces the zombie hiding behind the cabinet near the Musical Score)

Corridor to the back entrance (replaces the zombie near the door leading to the passage to the shed)

And the West terrace

Note: Bomb Zombie will only show up in cleared save files.
How can I stop the Bomb Zombie from unlocking?
To me at least, he isn't as threatening as I thought, but this is probably want you want. So:

Don't beat the game again with the second character

Well this is the easiest of solutions. Just don't play Jill/Chris for the 2nd playthrough on Normal/hard on the cleared save file. Assuming you did Jill/Normal or Hard (which is what most....some...barely any players do), then simply don't load up the cleared save file and beat Once Again on Normal/Hard with Chris on that save file you loaded.

(Note: Once Again is the "replacement" for new game. It's basically New Game but you get to play with your new unlocks.)

Keep in mind, Bomb Zombie only shows on cleared save files that him unlocked. So you can always load up a new save file (or a cleared one that doesn't have him unlocked). So play smart with your saves and you'll be FINE.

Remember
He ONLY shows up on "Once Again" playthroughs that have him unlocked. He doesn't show up on Real Survivor or Invisible Enemy modes. (Pfft, imagine fighting an invisible enemy that one shots you. Ha.)
How to deal with him?
So, you decided to actually accept him like a man? Alright, here's a few tips on how to make Bomb Zombie a joke.

Don't attack him
I mean, its common sense to not shoot someone strapped with grenades. Right?

Rattle, Rattle, Rattle
You'll know Bomb Zombie is in the same room as you once you hear the sound of his grenades rattle. That means he's making a chase after you. He's got around the same speed as a Crimson Head, but he's not impossible to outrun.

He's no Nemesis
No, Bomb Zombie doesn't endlessly chase you throughout the mansion. He only stays in the rooms he spawns in. Sure, there's 1 instance where he'll move to another room (I'll leave that up to you), but he doesn't chase you all throughout. Sometimes, even straight up disappear in the room he's in for some reason....huh...

Bait his hug attack
Bomb Zombie will (usually) make a mad dash toward you once you enter a room where he spawns at. His main method of "attack" is his hug. He'll attempt to grab and bite you, but it surprisingly has a very short range. Often times, you don't even to do any extreme maneuvers, just a slight backwards walk is enough to make him whiff and grab air. This leaves him puzzled for around 3 seconds before Bomb Zombie tries again. Its easier shown than said.

S.T.A.I.R.S!!!!
Fun fact: Zombies can only do a short ranged vomit if they're on stairs. Same applies to Bomb Zombie. He can only vomit if he's on a set of stairs. If you're in a room where there's stairs, you can bait Bomb Zombie to them, make him do the vomit attack, and run Scott free. No need to deal with hugs.

Put your defensive items away!
Yeah, your defensive items also cause him to blow up. So best if you set the defensive items to manual and not auto. I mean, you should've done that in the first place.

Crimson Heads to the rescue?!
What? Yeah! Crimson Heads (those red zombies that were zombies that you shouldn't have killed) can actually HELP you. If you actually get a Crimson Head to attack the Bomb Zombie, Bomb Zombie doesn't blow up, he ACTUALLY gets stunned for a good amount of time. I think you get a good 10 seconds of freedom if that happens. Wouldn't recommend it though, it's a weird discovery that I accidentally pulled off once. And I don't think it's worth the risk, but its interesting to see that can happen. I WISH I had actual footage of it happening, but you can do it yourself if you want to. Just an interesting discovery I had to mention.

Wait, he's gone...
Here's the weird part: Bomb Zombie only shows up in the beginning part of the game. He only shows up in Mansion and disappears for the rest of the game once you leave the mansion to get the crank. Afterwards, he won't show up EVER. AGAIN. So it makes you think why it's made such a big deal when Bomb Zombie disappears after, what, 10-20 minutes into the game. Makes you wonder why Capcom even bothered putting him in the game if he shows up for such a minuscule amount of time.
Good luck, fellow S.T.A.R.S members!
For your first 2 playthroughs, you shouldn't worry about him. It's the 3rd playthroughs and counting where you'll deal with him. But hopefully thanks to this guide you'll see him as a joke once you get over the fact that damaging him is an instant game over.

Take care!
