It’s an attempt to solve conflict between Extended Stellaris Traditions and Ancient Cache of Technologies. As stated in zulu9812’s mod:

One of the ways to unlock the first tier of dark matter tech (Enigmatic level) is to hold a science convention and then research three technologies to unlock the dark matter reactor tech. Those three technologies are Dark Matter Generation, Dark Matter Containment, and Dark Matter Application.
In order to be able to get those techs as an option, your scientist needs to be level 6 or more, and possess one of a list of traits. One in particular is the Spark of Genius trait, which normally gives +10% research speed, and can be used to unlock Enigmatic tech.
The issue arises with the Academy tradition tree in the Expanded Stellaris Traditions mod. Upon completion of that tree, your scientists get certain traits upgraded to a better one upon reaching level 5.
In practice, this means that the Spark of Genius trait gets replaced with a trait of the same name that gives +20% research speed instead. However, ACOT does not recognise this new trait, even though it displays in-game as Spark of Genius.
This meant that I was stuck wondering why the special techs weren't appearing for my scientists who clearly had the Spark of Genius trait (or so I thought). It also meant that any leader who spawned with the original Spark of Genius trait would have it replaced upon gaining level 5 - meaning that none of your level 6+ leaders could have the 'correct' Spark of Genius trait that could spawn Enigmatic techs.
So this patch enables ACOT to recognise the EST Academy version of Spark of Genius as a valid trait, and thus you will be able to research the aforementioned dark matter techs. I've made it so that the same effect happens for when you want to discover Stellarite, which requires a similar procedure. In fact, whilst there are a few different ways to get Enigmatic tech, this is the only way to get Stellarite tech.

I checked it and it should work fine, but feedback is appreciated. All credit goes to the original author.

Since it deals with leaders and levels chances something they changed and the mod does not work anymore but I can't know

I dont know, I havent played 3.8 Stellaris yet, but please let me know if you have any issues while using EST and ACOT given that entire leader system has changed. Still, this mod is outdated and currently does nothing for 3.8 but I can update it if there are any problems with ACOT and EST running together.

@Atlantispy It would require me to make another patch, because I would need to overwrite PT files and this mod overwrites ACOT files so I cannot add this feature. However, there is a PT/ACOT patch but I dont know if it still works.

Would you be able to include a fix for the plentiful traditions tree that unlocks dark matter generation too?

I'm not sure if this sort of thing is fixed by the Sartek's Ascension Perk merger

Fixed, but I dont know how long it takes steam workshop to update files so it might take a while for it to get implemented.

yeah sure. I'm amazed my modlist works as well as it does already. Althouhg to my bemusement i spawned next to an empire with a preference for these storm ocean worlds from gigastructural engineering for some reason, lmao.

I did some testing and the only instance when my game crashes is when I'm using the local version of my mod (the one that is created before publishing) so either there is a conflict between mods or it is a local problem with game docs on your pc (assuming that the mod itself works fine). Anyway, this patch is a crude fix and I hope that, someday, ACOT devs include a fix to this in the main mod.
