YFFS: YellowApple's Friendly Froggs and Shadows

Beskrivning
What is it?
It prevents players from accidentally murdering non-hostile Frogg and Shadow NPCs in cold blood.

Why'd you make it?
Because I got tired of my turrets - which I placed to *protect* the innocent Froggs and Shadows - mowing them down instead. I didn't see any other mods doing this, so I did it myself.

How do I install it?
Multiple ways:

Will this work in multiplayer?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Is this compatible with other mods?
As long as those mods don't depend on the Frogg and Shadow NPC types having a damage team other than "friendly", then yes, this should be fully compatible with them.

Will this break my saves?
Highly unlikely. It's just two JSON patches. Uninstalling will simply revert the damage teams to vanilla (returning them to being vulnerable to damage by the player and/or the player's turrets).

What are the known issues with it?

All known bugs are tracked on GitHub[github.com].

Good deal! Thank you for the clarification. And I meant the Savannah Villagers as detailed in the 1.2 update of the other mod:
Fixed Savannah Villagers (single villagers that appear in savannah and desert biomes) to be Friendly.

@the_silver_bandit Yep, seems like that one does the same thing as this one, at least based on the description (haven't looked at the code yet).

By "savannah villagers" do you mean the Fenerox? Or do you mean the human tribal dudes that are hostile to the player?

Also, would you be able to include Savannah Villagers like in the other mod?

Hi! Thank you for the mod. Does your patch do the same thing as (Frogg) Villager Fix: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2402909895 ?
YellowApple  [skapare] 20 mar, 2023 @ 14:39
Probably, yeah, assuming they have a distinct NPC type. I'll take a look tonight.

Would it be possible to extend this mod to protect the peaceful deadbeats that appear on scorched planets?

"P.s. is there a way to stop surrendering NPCs from being murdered by allies e.g. to make them invulnerable"

I'm sure there is, but I haven't dug deep enough in the NPC behavior code to know exactly where that lives.

Thank You!

It's absurd that your own allies would otherwise try to murder them because of a stray shot.
I remember being super frustrated, when I accidentally got the Villain achievement (after avoiding it for years), because I accidentally killed a shadow man.

P.s. is there a way to stop surrendering NPCs from being murdered by allies e.g. to make them invulnerable (I tried doing this with Lua code, but couldn't work out how to identify when an NPC was performing the surrender behaviour)?

I thought this said something very different
