Description
What this mod does,
-Adds new structures that require higher skill level requirements and the previous research to then unlock the new tiers (It's meant to feel progressional and not as a game breaking mod)
-Adds increased range to the motion sensor and the lightning rods
-Removes the aggro from lightning rods (meaning enemies won't try and focus them)
-Adds new turrets with double health and range to better match the new Motion Sensors
-Lowers maintenance (breakdown happen less frequently)
-everything is upgradeable via reconstruction
-Add new Menus to find everything to reduce clutter
-Makes power poles placeable inside of buildings

Beta Release 0.23
Improved Power Sources, Power Storage, Power Poles, Motion Sensor & Turrets. All Power Sources Produces 5x Power and can be upgraded from there none IPS variations allowing for a smoother transition between them.

As this mod is still in Beta it will be continuously worked on and if you would like to see any changes please leave a suggestion and I will take it into consideration.

For people who been using the mod since the begging I am sorry there has been a lot of changes so here is a guide to help you hopefully fix everything.

-Load your game and select Mod Manager


-Then Select Mod Editor


-Then Wait for the map to load and the manager to load and look for my mod and right click and Select Delete Mod close your game re-open it as long your subbed it should still show up in your menu, Repeat the Steps above till the manager re-opens and click my mod and click load.


-You know when everything is working properly when you see these in your game





1st option
So the solution for missing Icons you need to localize the mod.
(C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\Stranded - Alien Dawn\Mods\Improved Power & Defense)
Delete this file down this path launch the game and go to your mod manager - mod editor - and double click improved power & defense, it will prompt you about copying the files in your app data folder, accept it. then close the two windows and return to the main menu and play. This should be a simple fix for some reason the mod manager tries to localize the files and causes the missing icons. Currently it's just an issue with the mod tool.

2nd option
The second Option is too do it yourself navigate to this folder
(C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\Stranded - Alien Dawn\Mods\Improved Power & Defense\Items)
This is best done with notepad++ and remove everything before the UI/Icon you can easily do this by copying the line of text hit Ctrl+F switch to the replace tab and paste the C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\Stranded - Alien Dawn\ and replace it with nothing. save the file and launch the game.
It should look like this when your done.
Example text "UI/Icons/Build Menu/Categories/storage_shelves"

Some advanced items should require a minimum level of intellect/construction to research and build.

There's been a bit of a problem with the research queue ...

Also the Alien Language research item never shows up in the research tab despite having encountered the alien ship. Improved laser pistol hasn't shown up.

Something that would be nice to see is the ability to break down and reverse engineer advanced items for some amount of research credit.

I see all itens and so on, but researches unlock don't ever show up, make a save, disable mod, look at research its there, for example, sleep training, any research you get from exploration and so on will be there, with this mod they disappear. Unfortunately i only noticed that late game, so now, gonna start fresh

@Lanthrudar They do not appear in the build list or as an item to be researched but are required to be researched by this mod in order to unlock the research of 3 of the items that are included within the mod itself.

So if I want to research "superior improved solar" I am required by this mod to first research something called "improved solar cells" but "improved solar cells" doesn't exist anywhere, under research or as a build-able item/craft-able item

@TheWatcherAI And do those improved items not appear in the build list? Or is it saying those have to be researched first? Been a few months since I played, but I thought with this mod some of the items you had to build and upgrade via mechanics, not science, to trigger other research

Question, "Superior Improved Solar" requires "Improved Solar Cells" but that item does not exist in the menu of options to research?
Same with "Graphene Solar Cells" and "Battery Optimization"

Can you adjust the mod so we can determine the power boost? Unless the new power items cost 5X the resources as the base, producing 5X the power seems a bit much.

Would love the ability to just have the new version boost X above the base item, a modest increase like the carbon vs. default windmills do now. The increased materials cost per unit and the research cost balances that without making it uber powered.

I think the carbon windmills in base game is double output for either 50% or 100% more materials cost, including carbon tubes vs. plain metal which is a task just to get it either through research first or killing a lot of bugs. Having more fun things to research and build towards is always fun, just not making them so OP you never really need to make more than a few of them.
