Generic British Engines Pack v2

Description
Gr1m's Generic British Engines Pack v2
For all your generic steam engine needs!

Note that this mod is intended to replace the first version of this mod. There was a major restructuring of files behind the scenes, and a regular update would have broken a lot of people's saves. Install this mod, replace your engines, and remove the previous version.

***

This pack has 55 'generic' engines in it designed to represent some of the common engines found on pre-grouping railways in the UK.

And all 55 are available In 3 liveries - the blue shown above, as well as an unlined 'freight black' style livery that was common, and a gold-lined red livery as well.

21 of the later locomotives are also available in BR Green, BR Blue and BR Black liveries as well.

I've also included placeable assets of all of the engines. These assets are also available 'as new', or in fully aged and rusted variants for adding to your sidings, scrapyards, workshops and so on.

So uh...all in all? There's 165 different engine variants. And more than that for placeable assets.

To save on file space, but not my sanity, the models are made up of a bunch of common meshes, and everything's kind of cobbled together in the .mdl files. Its a bit complicated, but the long and the short of it is that the entire pack shares a bunch of common mesh assets, and everything is mapped to the one set of textures. Which saves on file size. So you get a lot of mod for a fairly economic file.

These engines cover from 1850 right up until 1950, so you'll see everything from early 2-2-2s, all the way up to some big 0-8-0s and 4-4-2s, and a big Pacific, a couple of Black 5 inspired engines and more!

There's also an absolute ton of small tank engines and shunters for your sidings and freight yards and such.

I'm not going to list all of the engines stats below because I'd be here all day. But rest assured I've taken multiple attempts to try and balance them around each other (however the early locos *are* OP compared to vanilla, because the 1850s economy is broken anyway)

Features

-55 original engines, based on common UK engine designs ranging from 1850 - 1950
-All engines come in 3 liveries - a generic lined blue livery, and an unlined generic 'freight black' livery and a red livery with gold lining.
-A total of 160 engine variants to choose from
-Full aging and recolour support. Detailed dirt and rust accumulates as the engine ages.
-Engines are sorted in a depot menus to reduce purchase menu clutter. Due to the large volume of locomotives available, they have been split between 5 menus for 25 year blocks.
-Small file size and .dds compressed textures, to help with load speed.
-Lods to reduce GPU load.
-Placeable rail assets (also with lods) allowing placement of the full engine, or just the tender or locomotive if you wish.
-Aged/rusted versions of placeable assets.
-Moddable engine numbers - edit the number of the train and the number will display on the side of the locomotive.
-Don't like a specific livery? You can now disable it in the in-game mod menu to further reduce depot menu clutter!

Credits

A big thank you to the Transport Fever 2 UK Discord for all of the feedback and suggestions on this mod, and also for putting up with my spam as I've worked on this and provided continuous, frequent updates. This has actually been a pretty huge undertaking and I've learned a lot of new stuff in the process, and the support and enthusiasm for this project has been *greatly* appreciated!

Also a big thank you to uzurpatorex for their Heusinger/Walschaerts Animation Tool mod in helping me figure out the animations for the Garratt locomotive - the tool is invaluable in getting those animations to work.

Mate, these are great. Perfect for playing on my laptop (where the nifty tricks to reduce demand on the specs are much appreciated) but with a nice eye for style. Top stuff.

Absolutely brilliant idea and content. All these in one grouping has shortened my load order by like 50 items.

Love it! :)

I'm not sure if it's me messing up or an error with the Dec 5th update but at this point, the Unlined Black livery does not recolor

These look really great and help pad out any early start game as there really is nothing between 1850 and 1880, the period where steam engines changed the most. And since England built a lot of engines for many different countries at the time, they're not entire out of place elsewhere.

how to find assets i cant find them?

I'd like to see if what Fahrgast proposed is something that could be done. Having an option in the mod loader to choose between the typical footplate lanterns and the high-top american style round lanterns would be perfection. This is one of my most used and recommended mods and your generic coaches are some of the best mods on this game! Between you, Steve Emfore, CW315 and many others this game is my perfect UK Railway simulator. Thank you for the hard work!

Just a quick note to say thank you for an excellent mod.
The drip feed of new locos keeps my games interesting and I love the new additions.
Top work!

I really love this Mod, the locos look great. But can you maybe change the lamps? The real british steam locos had such small attachable lanterns, your big round lanterns don't really fit the locos, i think.

Is there a way I can manually set the maintenance and cost of the trains? I feel that the game makes modded trains overpriced compared to their vanilla counterparts
