First of all, great work on this boss, I played around with it a bit and had a lot of fun!
I am currently working on my own mod and would like to include this boss as part of a quest. Would you be open to allow me to use the kraken boss for this? I would of course give you full credit in the mod discription with a link to this mod too.
Knowledge is power here. If you're having problems with one set of tentacles (Or type) Take one out. It will take time to summon more. There is a damage type (The most dangerous to me), A stress (Least dangerous imo) and one that will move you (Another one I typically ignore.)
And, many bosses even in vanilla are not possible first attempts if you go in with the wrong party - running is always an option. Keep that into consideration. If you feel like you're not making progress against it, take what you learned, and take a team that may do better the next time. Bleed does wonders against it, but is not 100% required for it.
And, for the record, you can also take out the Kraken, 100% ignoring *Any* set of the tentacles, if you have the right groups for the fight. Knowledge on what you're fighting matters.
Thank god Cerebral made a balance patch for this.
As ReNegade mentioned, the boss isn't very hard (I'm using only vanilla heroes), but it's not very easy as well.
You need to be prepared for a party shuffling and dealing with bleeding, so taking random heroes you have around is not recommended.
This mod proves that a good fight doesn't have to go in pair with bs/unfair mechanics. In fact, kraken has weaknesses that can be used against him like a low stun resist of his tentacles or a lose of protection after reaching his HP threshold.
However the coolest aspect of this boss is the atmosphere - custom loading screens and dynamic of kraken's behavior. 1st part of the fight makes me feel that I'm fighting a ruthless predator who treats me as another meal in its menu. 2nd part gives us a wild chaotic monster that desperately urges to destroy me.
There is one thing that Jello would polish - trinkets pictures. Imo their quality doesn't suit neither vanilla design nor the rest of graphics this mod provides.
