About:
Adds a new craftable mechanoid that can perform research.
  • Analyst
Required research: High mechtech
Material cost: 50x Steel, 1x High subcore
Bandwidth cost: 3
Weapon: None
Features:
  • Analysts' research speed is equal to a healthy pawn with lvl 10 Intelligence skill, but they never pause to eat or sleep.
  • Analysts can use both vanilla scanners (Ground-penetrating scanner & Long-range mineral scanner).
  • Analysts spend less energy compared to other mechanoids.
  • Analysts CANNOT apply techprints.
  • Analysts CANNOT hack.

  • Q: Is this mod safe to add mid-save?
    A: Most likely, yes. All features of the mod should work normally.
  • Q: CE compatible?
    A: CE's built-in autopatcher fully patches this mod.

Changelog:
  • v1.1.1: Banned other mechs from doing Analyst's research. In vanilla Fabricors have research work type enabled. This is probably required for some crafting jobs, so this mod prevents Fabricors from using research tables and scanners, but doesn't remove the work type.
  • v1.1: Added the ability to scan.
  • v1.0: Release.

@Monkey Magic: I think the research added was meant for crafting jobs that require research, like medicine production. I don't think it allows the fabricator to use the research bench.

@jimfoghorn stated in the fork that this mech was no longer needed as the fabricator can now do research.

I checked this, and In 1.4, the Fabricator does not appear to want to do any researching, but it does now have the ability listed in it's race data:

I have tested for 1.5, and while the mech does state it is capable of researching, there are no tasks listed for research, so it does nothing :/

Hello,this mod is not work at 1.5 with error that:


Exception in Verse.AI.ThinkNode_ConditionalWorkMode TryIssueJobPackage: System.FieldAccessException: Field `RimWorld.ResearchManager:currentProj' is inaccessible from method `Analyst.WorkGiver_MechResearcher:ShouldSkip (Verse.Pawn,bool)'

Error trying to make float menu for M1: System.FieldAccessException: Field `RimWorld.ResearchManager:currentProj' is inaccessible from method `Analyst.WorkGiver_MechResearcher:get_PotentialWorkThingRequest ()'


It make there is no float menu at common and analyst will not do its work which it should do.There should be a wrong with the workgiver

Careful at the moment if you use this mod it disables the context menu for pawns to prioritize work etc.

In my playthru. the mechs provide assist for my ruler race and my human hive soldier race which has a couple queens .

my main race and mechs never see combat. I love seeing mechs researching mech tech, mech building mechs and gearing up clones that werefresh out the grow vats to die in their name.

He's a little small. Should be bigger. Especially if he's using the high mechanoid brain. Like doesn't need any sprite changes, the sprite should just be... Large as a person imo.

Im also having the Research Reinvented issue. Specifically they just stand at the bench instead of actually working. No clue if it's because it's the high tech lab equipment mods hi-tech research bench but it's the same error as @echo394 has when it happens. It's not complex jobs to my knowledge since it still happened after I removed that but a bit annoying since I made a analyst that is basically a really big decorative paper weight for my base now.
