Second Empire Victorian Home: Arnett-Fullen House

Description
A belated valentines treat - a lovey escape for the true romantics!

After a long hiatus on account of the game's impressive ability to make itself unplayable, I'm back with an arduously-detailed Second Empire manse. Like the Queen Annes, these late-Victorian era abodes populate the North American expanse with fanciful elegance. And it IS fanciful; I'm basically making digital dollhouses at this point.

There was only one (ancient) Second Empire on the workshop. So, this is one of two I plan to add some drama to 'burbs & small towns replete with with those enchanting single-family home assets by Khrysler. Also blends in perfectly with (and use the same textures as) my Queen Anne homes..

Description

The Second Empire school was another late-1800s American housing trend with a name appropriated from colonialists. Just like their turret/tower-loving cousins, these modest mansions went extremely extra with details and ornateness. Their hallmarks are mansard roofs and portal overhang windows, which is about the only thing that consistently separates them from the Queenies.

This guy is perfect for mid-street or corner lots in all manner of settings. Be it an urban core, streetcar suburb, quiet farmstead or manor hill, the Arnett-Fullen commands respect within any neighborhood. She also fits a wide variety of North American regions. You can see a wide range of examples in the curated screengrab selection up topside.

This particular model is heavily based on the historic Arnett-Fullen House[en.wikipedia.org] in lovely Boulder, Colorado. Set against the rugged Flatirons, the publicly-tourable Gingerbread House is only a scant few blocks from both the Pearl Street pedway and hikeable red rocks. True ambulatory perfection - assuming you don't mind the ghosts.

I removed some of the Carpenter-Gothic detailing to save on memory. Note: the fencing and decorative motifs don't have alphas on Sketchfab & appear solid; they have appropriate transparencies in-game.

The neat thing is that there are not one, but TWO variations included in this asset! One is the "flipped" version of the other - the turret appears on an alternate side in each asset.

Recommended Assets

Pdelmo bushes (Regular Bush tiny, Green bushes, etc), the garden pathway 02 by BeardMonkey, and some vanilla assets (mailbox and... that's it?) were used to decorate the lot. Lacking these subscriptions will do no harm.

I should also note that many of my assets share textures, so if you have Loading Screen Mod, you'll see some decent load time savings. ALL MY QUEEN ANNE AND SECOND EMPIRE ASSETS USE THIS MODEL'S TEXTURE! Next up is a famous Second Empire from a painting by Ed Hopper... try and guess it! (Hint: railroad tracks)

I'm using hockenheim95's BIG Suburban Roads, BIG Urban Roads, Eloso's Narrow Suburban Street Parking, Ronyx69's Rural Road Asphalt, and Darf's cobblestone roads.

These are really, really nice. There's a number of them in my city where the rich mill owners once lived. Today, the houses are carved up into condominiums and doctor's offices.

These look really great and they're perfect for the city I'm currently working on. Thanks!
