Weapon Range 2x

Description
Increases weapon ranges to 2x the default value.

I increased it to 2x the range only because light weapons can't do damage beyond around 8,300 U of distance. I suspect it has to do with how the game loads cells (world sections) and how it handles light weapon projectiles. So going beyond 2x the range would make most light weapons pointlessly waste energy firing at something that is too far. Even at 2x the range some light weapons already have a range of more than 8,300 U, while most of the other are pretty close to it with range enhancement upgrades.

Heavy weapons can hit and do damage beyond the 8,300 U limit of light weapons. From my testing you can't select / click on objects (like an asteroid) until its within 17,000 U even if you visually see it 25,000 U away. So increasing heavy weapon range to 3x or more would be mostly pointless since you can't even click on an object to target it in order to fire.

There is an older mod called "UltimateSpaceBattle" by Azarath that increase weapon ranges to 10x, though it doesn't fully work due to the limitations I describe above.

@BUCKFASTMAN09 Yes it applies to the AI also. Or at least in theory.

The mod edit's weapon stat files and AI ships use the same variety of weapons as the players. So the mod does increase the AI's weapon ranges also, but whether the AI will chose to shoot at you 2x the range is not certain.

I haven't seen or touched anything in regards to the AI's combat logic, but I assume they always just shoot at you as soon as you get into max range. Defense Platform's light weapons have a max range of like 10,000 u, and I have seen them shoot at me at that range, so I assume ships will do the same.

Is this for Ai as well?
