That's a load of BS, Its a trophy game park outside of Johannesburg , South Africa where they raise these types of wildlife for very wealthy tourist. Look it up. It is NOTHING what you mentioned or you were lied to in believe it

If anyone is curious about the context of the pic, nature preserves allow tourists to hunt especially disruptive members of a species to aid with preservation efforts. If this is the story I'm thinking of attached to that picture, that giraffe was a male who was too old to breed, but was still attacking and injuring the breeding age males in the preserve.
