Description
Cinematic Cims

Cinematic Cims are an ongoing collection of HD cim animations and props to be our hero characters in cinematic shots, to help us tell stories and to have more interesting cims inhabit the worlds we create in Cities: Skylines

I want people to look better in-game, the buildings on the workshop are so detailed and awesome, but find some existing cim props and vanilla citizens are quite low poly, so sometimes they lack the realism i want. This collection is designed to help improve the quality of characters with a variety of animations for storytelling purposes and cinematics.

Mike Burgansey

Mike Burgansey is a fictional character in Two Dollars Twenty’s Sunset City YouTube series. He is the first in a series of characters we will be developing into the Sunset City storyline in future episodes. Mike is a Senior Executive at the King Buns Burger Chain, the largest and most popular fast food restaurant chain across the Seminal State. When you first meet Mike he resides at the Royal Palm Estate before his house mysteriously burns down. Police investigating suspect the crime is related to the Sunset City Mob. Mike is currently laying low within Santa Julia... (to be continued).

Check out Two Dollars Twenty's Sunset City series on Youtube to find out what happens to Mike in future episodes.

Phone Animation

Animation shows Mike on the phone, he is pacing back and fore whilst talking on the phone.

How to use

Subscribe to 'Custom Animation Loader' mod, subscribe to my animated assets and enable the mod in Content Manager. The asset will now appear in game.

  • These assets should be used in moderation. Treat them more like a building than a prop, use however you want but i'd advise using sparingly, like don't go placing thousands of them. They are meant to be 'hero' characters, not background filler. A 100 or so on a map shouldn't really have any effect on FPS, obviously individual circumstances vary. If you got a good PC you'll be fine.
  • Alternatively, they can just be brought in just for cinematic shots and then removed once done if worried about any performance drop.

IMPORTANT - These models have a high tri count, 20k tris (approx.) for animations, 10k tris (approx.) for static prop versions. But the file sizes are only max 4mb per animation, that's pretty good. Using Unity for animations results in lower file sizes than a static high poly equivalent.

Includes:
  • 1 custom character animation

  • Animation loops continuously, some animations may not start and end at the same point.
  • Animations and props are technically non-functional unique buildings.
  • Change longtitude/latitude to get the right shadows/lighting on characters faces.

This collection will be an ongoing series with new sets of animated cims and prop versions regularly added.

FAQ

Q: I've downloaded the asset but it's not animating?
A: You need to download the mod 'Custom Animation Loader' from the workshop and make sure it's enabled in your Content Manager before loading a game.

Q: How do I find the assets?
A: Animations and props are non-functional unique buildings so would be found in the unique buildings section. However, use Find It mod for ease - search CC Anim (for animations), CC Stat (for props), Sully or Cinematic Cims and you'll see all subscribed assets from the collection.
