正定天宁寺-凌霄塔 by 常山`白云
凌霄塔，位于河北省石家庄市正定县大众街北侧原天宁寺内，塔身粗壮，塔体巨大，形状如楼阁。凌霄塔因巍峨高崇而得名。又因塔身有多处木结构，故俗称木塔。始建于唐成通年间（860年~874年），历代均有修葺，现存为宋、金时的建筑。
凌霄塔通体砖木结构，为9层楼阁式塔，高41米，平面呈八角形，矗立在八角形台基上。宋代在唐塔残址上重建其塔身1层至4层，为全砖结构，4层以上则为金代重建，为砖木结构。凌霄塔每层正面各辟拱形洞门或直棂窗、4层到9层的半拱、飞檐皆为木制。凌霄塔从第5层开始，各层高度逐层收缩。凌霄塔的最大特点是在塔身第4层中心部位竖立一根直达塔顶的木质通天柱，并依层位做放射状。八根扒梁与外檐相连，塔刹原本是铁铸，9层相轮呈枣核状。像凌霄塔这样的结构在国内现存仅此一例。在其塔基下发现了地宫。经清理，出土了一批颇有价值的文物，并为断定该塔的确切年代提供了可靠依据。
1988年1月13日，凌霄塔被中华人民共和国国务院公布为第三批全国重点文物保护单位。

Lingxiao Pagoda, located in the former Tianning Temple on the north side of Dazhong Street, Zhengding County, Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, has a strong body, a huge body and a shape like a pavilion. The Lingxiao Tower is named for its towering height. It is also known as wooden tower because it has many wooden structures. It was first built in the Chengtong period of the Tang Dynasty (860-874), and has been repaired in all dynasties. The existing buildings are those of the Song and Jin Dynasties.
The Lingxiao Tower is a nine-storey pavilion-style tower with a brick and wood structure, 41 meters high, octagonal plane, and stands on the octagonal platform. In the Song Dynasty, the first to fourth floors of the tower body were rebuilt on the site of the Tang Tower, which was a full brick structure, while the fourth floors were rebuilt in the Jin Dynasty, which was a brick-wood structure. The front of each floor of the Lingxiao Pagoda has arched openings or mullion windows, and the half-arches and cornices from the 4th to 9th floors are all made of wood. The Lingxiao Tower starts from the fifth floor, and the height of each floor shrinks layer by layer. The biggest feature of the Lingxiao Tower is to erect a wooden sky column directly to the top of the tower at the center of the fourth floor of the tower body, and make a radial shape according to the level. The eight raked beams are connected with the outer eaves. The tower brake was originally cast iron, and the 9-layer phase wheel is in the shape of dates. This is the only existing structure like the Lingxiao Tower in China. The underground palace was found under its tower base. After clearing up, a number of valuable cultural relics have been unearthed, which provides a reliable basis for determining the exact age of the tower.
On January 13, 1988, the Lingxiao Tower was announced by the State Council of the People's Republic of China as the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
