Description
What is this?

AltMoodles for Project Zomboid adds brand new icons for Moodles as well as new transparent Backgrounds which fill up according to the level of need.


Moodles backgrounds

I used a lot Simple Number Moodles in my game (which is a great and efficient mod) but I wanted to try something else, something more visual and "video games-like" than simply putting numbers below an icon.

This mod modifies Moodles Backgrounds and make them more or less transparent depending the level of need (red) or satisfaction (green). The more it is filled up the strongest the mood.

But that's not all since the background outline also changes its color and become brighter and more colorfull when the mood gets stronger. The color goes from pale white to bright Red (Bad) or bright Green (Good).

You can see some examples below (size 200%):



During my testing I found it worked very well so I decided to share it on the Workshop!


Moodles Icons

I was also a little bored with the vanilla Moodles Icons and I always found that some of them could be better or at least less misleading for beginners (it tooks me some time to understand what did represent the "heavy load" icon...). So I made brand new icons to go along with the new backgrounds. I wanted them to be fun but also obvious and clear (to me at least).


Choose your version

The mod comes in 3 versions:
- Full: adds new Backgrounds + new Icons.
- BKG: adds only new Backgrounds.
- icons: adds only new Icons.

Install only one version at a time (in theory you could use the BKG + icons version together but why not using the Full one instead? :D)


Is it compatible with...?

It depends which version you want to install:
- Full version won't be compatible with any mods modifying Vanilla Moodles since it replaces icons + backgrounds.
- BKG version is not compatible with other mods modifying the same Vanilla textures (for example Simple Number Moodles) BUT it is compatible with custom icons from other mods.
- Icons version is compatible with custom moodles backgrounds and ONLY backgrounds.

In any case it should be compatible with any mods adding NEW moodles as long as the mod does not replace vanilla moodles assets.

The mod can be installed/uninstalled mid-game and should also work well in MP.

how would you go about replacing the moodles? i would like to replace them but got no idea how to open the .pack file.

It's strange that I want to modify some image resources in vanilla, but can't open. pack. Can I ask what tools can be used to open it:em_heart:

@Laast Apparently this is one of the mods where you must restart the game to apply the changes. I really need to get into the habit of remembering to do that. Sorry to bother. Works great.

@Laast I've already double checked that I have no mods replacing moodles, unless Moodle Framework or Clear Description for Moodles counts. That makes no sense though.

Welp. Time to go the enable to find the conflict route. I will get back to you when I find the culprit.

That's because you already have another mod replacing the same files. make sure you have removed any other mods related to vanilla moodles.

I like that emissive look of the backgrounds.
Suggestion: Adding color options for backgrounds. Although seeing how it's a replacement for original textures, there would have to be a lot of sub-mods, I guess.

Don't know why, but these textures won't show up in-game on my modpack, even if it's the very last loaded mod. Without any other mod though, it works. No errors either.

That said, I love the new textures, even if I can't use them yet.
