The Type 99 or ZTZ-99 is a Chinese third generation main battle tank. The vehicle was a replacement for the aging Type 88 introduced in the late 1980s. The Type 99 MBT was China's first mass-produced third-generation main battle tank.
This ver of tank is called ZTZ-99 MBT Stage III (WZ123B)[Chinese: 九九式主战坦克（三类定型状态）]

well ...Chinese militery fans always like to find the origin of Chinese weapons from abroad.A famous POV is that this tank's downpart(idk what its called,maybe chassis?) is a copy from T72's ,although its an over 55 ton's vehicle,T72 is only 45ton...
the car's prototype used the wedge shaped turrent design which gives itself a nickname Chinese leopard 2
and...Taiwan now gets abrams.All make sense right:WL_Happy:
