Description
Neo Protectorate Armour

Also known as Reinforced Protectorate Gear is a set of a T1 uniform for all Terrene Protectorate members who are visiting low-risk environments. More than just cosmetic items, the entry level armoured uniform already demonstrates why the Protectorate is a force to be reckoned and feared in the Universe.

Rich faction members can keep patronising the alliance having access to an exclusive Protectorate cape, made from the energy created by the secret engine which moves the so desired Matter Manipulator.

Version | Updates

This mod has been tested and it seems to be working as intended at least with original/vanilla races. I also tested on FU and it worked too (on races which follow human-like shapes.)

My knowledge about many aspects of the game is almost NULL, so I believe this mod only works on client side. For servers, whether folks are high-tech jacks and are able to put in there on their own or there should be guides out there on such topic/thread.

Right, what do we have here?

A set of tier 1 armour which can be crafted from main crafting menu (just C) from the very beginning of the game that do the same job as some sets from same tier (head, chest and trousers require only 1 pixel each to be crafted,)

Yes, they can be recoloured.

Full set adds armour stats as well as:
  • Protector visor (headware) - provides some light in dark environments;

  • Chest piece with its enhanced design allows the wearer to be able to act promptly whether on the surface or under water - boosts swimming;

  • Leg part diminishes any attrition when in contact with a solid material - wearer walks/runs (just a bit) faster.

Reason for them to be available only through crafting?

If the player chooses to skip initial quest, they still can get them (without having to spawn stuff,) as well as being "optional," since not every one would want them in the very beginning (or at all. Although in that case, rather not subbing to this mod?)

Anything else in the pack?

I also included a somewhat expensive craft-able cape. Unlike the uniform, its colours cannot be changed (maybe.) The cape though is a mere cosmetic item and since it cannot be recoloured, I picked a shade which represents the faction - even in vanilla/original gear, such tones never change. I also get it that it may not be on par to everyone's likings, but...

...Oi! I know how to "command line-custom-spawn-items", then in that case, feel free to try to custom-spawn the cape to the colours you prefer (never tested it though):

There're only two shades:

  • Outline shade is a solid colour, hex: B0810FFF - btw, in case you don't know (although you should, aight?) or supposing game reads alpha first, alpha info here is the latest FF: it'd be FFB0810F instead.

  • Filling colour has alpha %, its hex: B07A0FCC - alpha is CC

And since we're here, on the visor's lenses, only two tones too:

  • Outline hex - has alpha % : 334495AC - alpha is AC

  • Filling - alpha % as well: 5488D4AC - alpha, AC too

  • If you don't know how to, check it out "Customization" guides refering to custom armour with console commands at the workshop. It's somewhat low-risk, though I can't help you on that journey. Good luck!

So you just grabbed the vanilla cosmetic set and gave it a tiered armour status?

Yes and no. I also buffed the chest part to make the wearer look tougher. And I made a headpiece as well as a faction tier 2 armour set, have a look:

There are loads of Proc mods out there already, why another one?

tl;dr: No faction tiered armours in game. Haven't seen either any mod relating to it yet.

Since my first play-through, I found it quite disappointing not having a Proc armour to carry me along the first planet, either well for the rest of the game. I was like, how come the alliance is the story main thing and there's nothing palpable to prove its power as a group, after all it seems they were quite able to keep their MM well protected and in their power/control for a long while, but how?

No wonder players have created so many themed weapons for the alliance, as it really feels missing from the original released version. The vanilla Proc feels so subpar to what is told along the storyline... The only part which they do look great is in the very beginning, a whole world with noice looking props which (without any mod) won't be seen/used ever again...

But, where are the armour(s) parts? I know one reason people don't usually think about it is what aspects should such gear cover? I pondered about it and then decided it was time to come up with something about it.

Nevertheless I've seen some awesome, really great mods with new Proc outfits, like this one:

I do believe his uniforms would be the best candidates among the availables (so far) to be the tiered armour lacking in game. The thing is, it's not my mod, not my doing, not my creation. Which means I don't think it's fair/ethic turning them out as armours and releasing a mod. Also, supposing that some/any day he decided to create said armours, results would be superior, which in my opinion it would be a great addition - the more, the merrier.

Is this mod intended to invalidate others out there?

NEVER! I do appreciate what people has made and shared, weren't for them, this one wouldn't ever be possible. What I'm posting here is a tiny thing that I personally judged missing and decided to share it as well. There are much better modders/creators at the game's workshop, and I'd much rather support their work than anything else.

-Why did you make me do this? You're fighting so you can watch everyone around you die! Think, Mark! You outblast every fragile insignificant being on this planet. You'll live to see this world crumble to dust and blow away! Everyone and everythink you know will be gone. What will you have after five hundred years?
-You dad. I'll still have you.
