Automatic Solar Tracking 1.0

Descrição
This is my first Workshop-Item so please be patient with me.

This is an automated sun tracking device able to rotate your solar arrays in the optimal position.
Whilst it will rotate only on a vertical axis, I might create another version soon being able to rotate 360° on vertical and horizontal axes.

If you want to try it out yourself simply rotate the lower rotor to an angle suboptimal for the solar panels and then disable the rotor.

In case something is not working or the world file is corrupted please message me immediately given that I had trouble uploading the file.
(Version 1.0 Fixed a problem with the thumbnail)
Here is a some small background info about it:

"Industrial Information Sheet (Dated 25.07.2044):

Automatic Solar Tracking:
The first fully automated solar tracking device!
Ever got bored of manually rotating your solar arrays in the correct position using rotors? No more!
With the newest invention of HX Laboratories you now can attach this small* piece of magic** to your solar arrays to help automate the process!

Technical Specifications:
The device consists of an assembly of 12 of the finest HX Lab-Gyroscopes available and combines it with a high performance rotor made of the best magnets in the Solar System.***
Being mounted on top of a solar array of your choice it then starts to rotate***** said item(!) in case it is not aligned perfectly with the closest sun in the sector.
(!) Item? ITEM? Yes item, your eyes are not fooling you, you can basically mount the tracking device to ANYTHING due to its special Landing Gear Attatchments in TRI-Setup,
which it then will rotate towards the closest sun!
Additionally during operation it signals nearby ships and astronaut with its bright 12(Red) + 2(Orange) HLED Spot Lights to ensure maximum safety!
After the allignment is complete the power to the Solar Tracking Units (STU) is the cut off by overloading the power circuit, totally harmless**** and most importantly totally AWESOME******!

Usage:
Intended to be mounted on parts of ships and stations.
Do not add additional nuclear reactors to the Tracking Device.
Do not exceed set RPM settings for safe usage.
Modifing stock brake settings may be necessary when being mounted on custom Solar Arrays (such as extensions, smaller, larger ones).
Ships:
-Before engaging your engines make sure the rotors are locked in place.
-Do not exceed sector speed limits
-Tracking Device is NOT suited for warp engines unless specially secured with additional landing struts
-However you may use it while operating gravity drive at slow speeds

In case adjustments to the brake settings have to be made, proceed with the following:
1. Disable Rotor 1 (mounted beneath the solar array rotating axis*******)
2. Attach a maintenace console, disable Solar Tracking Rotor 1
3. Fine tune rotor brake speeds to match weight/torque ratio
4. Enable Solar Tracking Rotor 1
5. Remove maintenace console

Please note:
Default Torque settings:
R1 33.6 MNm
STR1 448.0 kNm
Default braking values:
R1 4.2 kNm
STR1 42.0 Nm
Default RPM settings:
R1 1.0 RPM
STR1 2.18 RPM
In case of questions in regards to operating the STD open a Comm-Link to the closest specialist available for HX-Lab devices.

(!)Consider contacting a HX-Lab specialist for fine tuning in case of adding modifications.

*1)Weighting a couple of hundred kilograms, spans more than 1 (one) meter.
**2)Actually science.
***3)No warranty.
****4)In case no low power nuclear reactors are connected which may overload whilst compensating for the STU's.
*****5)The affected solar array has to be mounted on a rotational axis as can be seen on instruction images.
******6)HX Laboratories is not to be held responsible for the usage and meaning of the word "Awesome" (in reference to its context) and accidents related to it.
*******7)Has to be set up seperatly and is not incorporated in this package."

The device was constructed for larger objects, thus a small change in weight has little effect. Additionally the turret does not weight that much, it should be nearly the same, I suppose it would even be in working order still.

What would the correct portion/ratio be to add a gatling turret with a small cargo container for the ammo on the top??? I want to add listening stations floating around the antenna is fine on the solar array but this little unit I want to be able to turn it and then protect the array, isthis too much for the overload process?

I guess the automation part (power overload?) has been modded into the game, so not useable as now for me.
But the idea to use Soloar Panels + lights as "solar sensor" is pretty nice.

I made a second version with 2 axis

Cmon, I am not a hater. I am an engineer in real life and I just wrote what I thought.
This is genius and I just thought the presentation could be a bit different, to reach more people so they get known a good (new to workshop) designer, sorry if that sounded wrong.

Every time somebody invents something great in real life it´s possible that it´s not beeing noticed because it was not "colored" enough for the big ones.

I like the story, very clever, dont listen to the haters of creativity :)
Momitori  [autor(a)] 29/jul./2014 às 10:16
The story background was for immersion only in case people want to read some more about it or integrate it in their play. Also I did write a short version of what it actually does, read the second sentence of the description (Basically the first few sentences). To sum it up it will rotate an object mounted on a rotational axis towards or directly opposite to the sun (which does not matter for solar arrays given that they produce energy with both sides).

Too less discription of the engineering you´ve done. This is a really nice piece and evidence of your creativity but to show that you might highlight in your discription what ´s the cool gimmic in your object better instead of create a huge text with story etc. However I am curious for your next work.

Amazing I would love to pick your brain on a few design items this is really clever. This concept may be able to be a sort of early R2 unit?... hmm

Thanks ;D
