The point about backups isn't a bad one, but don't forget these maps can always be ported again from the CE days if necessary. It makes the need to have "backups" somewhat moot.

Having multiple uploads of the maps (in case another submission is taken down for some reason) is a good thing. Backups of Backups...

I applaud the effort to port maps over from the CE days to MCC, but you may want to check if it's already here before putting in the effort.
