Description
The first third stage Electric type Pokemon from Gold and Silver comes to SSL. Dazzle your opponents with Flash and numerous electric type moves, no need to fell sheepish when doing so!

Gimmick - Tail Light

Ampharos' tail is known for being able to glow so bright that it can be seen from space and is capable of powering an entire lighthouse by itself. In SSL it uses this to power itself up. Attacking opponents will charge your tail depending on the amount of damage you do. When your tail is lit your moves are supercharged and you have more kill power options but using them drains your meter by various amounts depending on how strong the move is, with Bair draining the entire meter for a big risk big reward move.

Moveset
Jab/Nair ThunderPunch - Taken straight from Project + Charizard, ThunderPunch works roughly the same as it does in that game, on the ground Ampahros charges forward with its fist carrying a large electric aura, in the air it dives downwards with small horizontal momentum to be able to hit foes below. The move can be jump cancelled in midair after about 20 frames and can be jump cancelled on the ground. In the air it can also be cancelled with Uair. When the tail is lit, this move has better frame data, coming out faster with quicker movement in general.

Ftilt: Iron Tail - Ampharos' Tail turns metal and it swipes in front it. Can be cancelled into Jab Utilt and Dtilt. Is stronger overall when the tail is lit.

Utilt: Power Gem - Ampharos summons a bunch of shiny rocks that rotate in midair, this is a kill move even without the tail being lit up. When the tail is lit the rocks are larger and the hitbox is bigger.

Dtilt: Thunder Wave/Zap Cannon - Ampharos crouches and extends its tail with sparks flying from it in order to try and paralyse the opponent. When the tail is fully lit, Ampharos uses Zap Cannon instead which creates a projectile that travels across the stage until it hits someone at which point it stops and damages them multiple times.

Fair: Thundershock/Electro Ball - Ampharos turns around in midair so that its electric tail can attack the opponent. When the tail is lit up, this becomes the projectile Electro Ball which travels in a straight line forwards.

Bair: Flash - Ampharos alights its tail and creates a small flash of light which damages the opponent. If the tail is already lit up Ampharos proceeds to pump even more electricity towards its tail in order to supercharge the move at the cost of its entire meter, creating a massive light explosion which has huge damage and knockback values which can result in easy kills, but the move is extremely high risk.

Dair: Body Slam - Ampharos leans forward and hurls itself straight downwards with its full body to crush unsuspecting foes. Can be cancelled with Uair or jumping.

Uair: Light Screen - Ampharos creates a sparkling platform of light to stand on in order to help it get back onto the stage, or use it on the stage to create additional platforms to mix up your moves a bit more. This platform counts as landing so your jump is reset. Standing on the platform when it runs out will put you into pratfall. When the tail is lit, the platform moves upwards, aiding recovery even more and also enabling the platform to potentially carry opponents upwards.

Pokemon is owned by Nintendo, Creatures, Game Freak and the Pokemon Company, this is a fan associated piece of work.

Since there will inevitably be comments (if any actually happen) about this, this is an SSL Ampharos rather than a Rivals Ampharos as I am using this to test the character concept and wanted to do it as a side project. I may turn this into a full on Rivals character in the future, though that may be a while later. For now, enjoy this small side project that aims to bring one of my favourite Pokemon into a platform fighter.

Super Smash Land is the game that made me become a game developer - really cool to see you making these!
